Just want to advise any of you that didn't already know about LMT's 12 days of Christmas Sale.

https://lmtdefense.com/ (their main page has a clendar with the day the discount is in effect)

https://lmtdefense.com/?s=xmas2018 (this page shows the individual items which will be offered, the price drops on this page the day the item is discounted)

I just bought the nicest little 10.5in barrel with FSB attached for 159.99.

Thinking about a couple other items if the cash holds out.

Go back in time one day...It was yesterday's deal. (And a smoking deal at that...I melted my CC for Christmas already, or I'd have ordered one.)

Just opened a PM from TxRaptor:

In regards to your thread:
https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread...Christmas-Sale

I wanted to post and let everyone know that the discount code for LMT: "IG15" can be used to save an extra 15%. I don't have enough posts to be able to post in the General Discussion group but was hoping you could add it to your thread.

So thank TxRaptor for 15% off if you buy something!

Seriously though, where can I get an M203-2003 (I think that's the model number, maybe an L2B?) for a good price as a civilian? I've got an LMT MRP and I really really want one of those to finish off the build. I've wanted one for years now but the price tag is a little bit steep.

Just an update and shout out to LMT.

I stayed up until midnight to order my 10.5 barrel, wasn't sure if the sale was limited to stock on hand and I wanted to get one. Well, their site kept kicking back my card. After a couple tires I googled the error code and it said that the billing address I was giving didn't match the billing address on file with the card issuer. WTF? Well, at midnight there isn't much you can do about it.

The next morning I called LMT and ended up talking to Joe. Once he was up to speed on what the issue was, he told me no problem we'll enter it manually and get the barrel out. All was good, seemingly.

A short time later I got a call back from Joe and he told me they couldn't get it to go manually. At this point I was thinking the dang card has been hacked again. Joe suggested that I find a billing statement and give him the address as it appeared on the billing statement. I told him that I'd call him back with the info.

I called my credit card company and Mary ( I write these folks' names down) kind of laughed and said that this sometimes happened, some processing systems were tighter than others. In my case I had spelled East out, and they had it listed as 'E' also I had left off AVE. Now, I use this card online all over the place, and this is the first time this address not being EXACTLY the same had cropped up.

I called Joe back and he said they would get it entered. I never heard back but later the same day received an email receipt saying they had charged my card, but no indication as to what for. Last night, I got online and went to my account at LMT, no completed order noted online. Since it was Saturday evening, I made a note to call LMT on Monday, thinking to myself, 'boy Christmas Eve, that's going to be a mad house.'

Today, Sunday, USPS delivered my barrel.

A lot to read to deliver the sentiment that LMT is a good company to do business with.

The IG15 code didn't work for me on a MLR chassis early this morning, but it works on non xmas special stuff all the same. I was very happy to get a MLR for $450 w/ free shipping. Nobody at my house is complaining:)

What time did you order yours at? I got mine at 12:04. Apparently many tried to buy them at 7am when they were already OOS. I feel lucky to have gotten one now after hearing how many didn't get them. I hope hoarders didn't buy the bulk of them.

Well I went to bed at 9 p.m. central time, set my alarm for midnight. Then I had to create a new account because my LEO Account wouldn't give me the special price...After fumbling around for a paranoid 10 minutes, I thought they'd be sold out, I finally got the order through...Woke up at 6 a.m. n saw they were still in stock and texted a co-worker and advised them that he still had a shot...Checked again at 8 a.m.and poof...I should have ordered more..Crazy deal...

Amazing deal indeed. Appreciate that timeline...seems to nail down when they went OOS. If I didn't already have too many MRPs, I would have bought two.

What are you going to do with yours? I'm looking forward to a bunch of rifle length MLR builds. I've been looking at attachments tonight. I need a LW 14.5/16" barrel for it. I'm tempted to use a 6520 pencil barrel like I've wanted to do for years. I'm just not much into custom stuff.

Yeah I really had no intention of buying one...I’ve had three CQB MRP’s in the past that I sold. Still have an MWS that I love. Recently got the itch for a cqb mrp mlok. Called lmt and found out I could order a stripped mars lower or a pistoled mars lower even though they were out of stock... just had my ffl register w them so I could order. This deal just detoured that idea. I’ll order a regular mars lower for a recce spr-ish build. I already have a new bcg. I’ll order a 16” Barrel and ship to Marvin Pitts n chop n pin 14” w WarComp so I maintain a mid length gas system and ball mill the barrel. Probably add a leupold mk6 1-6 for glass, dunno though. Your lw pencil barrel idea would be an awesome jack of all trades rifle. I have a feeling that my 14” Ball milled version may still be heavier than I want .

Lol, I wish group rates applied. Marvin's not horrible with pricing, but he does it right. He did two barrels for my MWS and they turned out better than I expected. His demand is high and he takes forever to get you an initial quote. Sent a request to him two weeks ago to do work on my son's new MR556 and still nothing back. I think it took a month for him to get back to me on my MWS. Yeah the total build will be expensive, especially if I buy decent glass....I'll buy the lower in barrel first and it will probably sit in the safe until I have the gumption and funds to finish it. I'd still like to get a MARS stripped or Pistol-ed lower for my pistol build, which will be a whole other project and I would really like a MARS heavy lower and a MLOK MWS upper for my other MWS Barrel and bolt. Seems like I always have a new, ever changing, project list. Your build sounds very similar. If you get that pencil barrel I'd be curious to see how much it shaves off of the weight. I would imagine the shift in a favorable balance will be very noticeable. Keep me posted.

We seem to share the same AR brain:) Like you I do big builds over time, and use some of the pieces in the interim until I get everything needed to build the new project. I too would love a MARS heavy lower being a lefty. I just wish I shot my MWS more these days, as I just don't break it out unless I have some real distance to play with.

The thing that has always kept me from getting something from Marvin is the wait times. I've never seen a single report of a non satisfied buyer of his services....so I guess when you have that type of rep, you can go as slow as needed to maintain the level of quality. I think I might ask ADCO if they can convert barrels over to the MRP.

The glass is always the most painful part of the nice builds. Even a new T-1 these days is $700+. Been looking at rail scales today...wow, are they expensive for the G10 stuff. I really like their wider panels though that have the cutout for their handstop. Super sleek design it seems.

I'll keep you updated on the barrel decision. I think your dead on with regards to how dramatic of impact a pencil barrel will make on the already 5.5oz lighter MLR chassis. My project list is always several deep, and ADD as hell. A NZDF SAS railed stretch MRP clone is really high on my list as well...the specs are tough on it though.

So hadn't pondered this until recently...I guess I'm behind the times. I always wanted a keymod or mlok platform in a LMT or Knights...Well now that I have one I truly don't know what all the cool kids are using for rail panels. My personal railed rifles all have old school stippled KAC panels because I like the extra grip.. And quite honestly the look. I guess to be perfectly honest I actually like the look overall of the railed mrp's better then the slick ones. Don't get me wrong I think the MLOKs are a league of their own in aesthetics. When you say G10 panels whom are you referring to? I don't mind the ones by strike industries... The magpul ones are butt ugly.

Update. I ordered a MARS-L last week. Had intended on ordering glass but I'm very indecisive in a growing market, so i'll wait and ordered a 308 MWS MLOK upper for my spare parts. I'll order the MARS-H at the end of the month if all goes well...

Now I need two niche optics.

Cheers

Very nice. My plan is to slowly switch over to MARS lowers. I too really like the stippled KAC panels...cheap, very effective, and great looking. My only complaint about my railed MWS is the large profile of the rail in the hand verses these new school slim rails.

In regards to the G10 covers, they're made by RailScales. After looking at these and others for a week or two, nothing seems to compare to these in form, function, and fit based on the reviews. The price is the only thing that sucks it seems.

https://www.railscales.us/collections/railscales/products/railscales-test

They make them in a cheaper polymer version as well....
https://www.railscales.us/collections/railscales/products/htp-mlok-scales

Lastly, and if you hit the lotto....these are designed with a vfg or handstop in mind. So sleek! The cutout is for their own handstop or VFG.

One year bump. Well here we are almost 1yr later from LMT’s last 12 days of Christmas sale that lead me to go ham and buy an MLR chassis, leading to a MARS-L, MARS-H, and a MWS MLOK upper. Seems like yesterday and I’m still recovering from my unplanned kit corse correction. I still need a 14.5 for my light Reece build and the LMT Black Friday sale was disappointing. Hopefully they’ll have the 12 days sale again catering to my needs and absent of further temptation....

@ALCOAR
Well, not much progress from our conversation from a year ago because as you’ve seen, the mlr turned into two builds. All updates were posted except I purchased another ATLAS on Black Friday for $165! and some M118LR ammunition. Hoping to get my 5.56 barrel above, possible my 3rd ATLAS and I’m tempted to deviate from my beloved Geissle, and try ML’s, S7 tool steel, MBT triggers for a measly $80.... Still desperately need glass and mounts, but 2019 has been rocky...

How about you? How’s the MLR coming?
Cheers

Thank you! You as well.

There is nothing on your rifle that I don’t love. I’d say nice simple set up, but only insofar as purposeful execution towards usage . Beyond that, you have a great deal going on with that setup that flows really, really well.
Just shows how much the industry has evolved since my acquisition of LMT’s 1st MRP chassis. All of my old kit was premium in it’s day and all be it still relevant, modern products have simply gotten better.
Every component on your rifle is Gucci. Picture saved. Definitely gun porn worthy. I will definitely be robbing some of your execution as funds allow.

Hopefully this year I can close some distance between envisioned concepts and reality.

Thank you for the update!

Haha, great minds think alike and all that. I've been drooling over your MWSs for years now it seems :)

I really appreciate those kind words, and your description is very much what my goal was. Updated parts without too much going on with the build.

It really is crazy just how far everything has come in just a decade. Like you, this was my first project/AR with updated parts in some time. Seems like by the time you get these things built, new versions of the parts are all ready being rolled out.

Really looking forward to your results, and I know they'll be nothing but the best based on your previous projects. Fingers crossed we score another deal like last year!

Yeah you likely won't be disappointed, but sometime down the road in maybe a decade you might regret selling a more unique colt. Colt is about the only AR I would say this about, but there is something about Colt that seems to hold value, or increase in time even in the salad days we're currently living in.

I just still kick myself for selling off a 6520 upper, and still haven't found another to replace it with. I'm a LMT man, but there is something alluring about having a Colt or two in the safe.

@ALCOAR ... yes, that does kind of give me a lot of pause. There is something quite cool about having as close to the "real deal" full military M4 and the one I have is a close as you can get without going NFA big $$$ and I have no ability whatsoever to make it into select fire regardless. So...

Ordered a Enhanced carrier and was quoted 5 months until estimated shipment.

I read the IG rep answer that question recently.....said they just can't keep up with all the demand, and the best option is to look to their retailers/distributors for fastest availability.

I barely bought one 4-5 months ago when they put up a dozen or so on the website for a few of us that had been waiting a little while for them.

I don’t know but I think “they can’t keep up with demand” is BS. They have a brand new factory if they wanted to keep up with demand I imagine they could. They are sold out perpetually so I don’t even know how anyone would buy one to begin with. I honestly think LMT is turning into Colt light and more concerned with contracts.

I picked up a MARS lower (Iowa made) recently when they became available again and they were sold out in a few days

Well they started out as a silent manufacturer focused on military, so... However over the years have become very KAC’ish and began catering, I think, quite successfully, to the civilian market. They’re primarily a contractor so there are always going to be lulls. I’m disappointed this year though. A large facility would seem to add an abundance of capability to the layman, but I’m sure it is not that simple. There was an abundance last year it seemed.

Correct, they also got a contract in 2019 to supply 16,000 rifles to Estonia through 2021.

Sale is live on website. So the 18” rifle length 5R stainless is on sale for $449, down from $699...I can get the 16” Chrome lined for $390. Either one will get shipped for a 14.5” pin and weld + ball mill. I’ve seen quite a few state that the C/L performing as well as stainless. Any educated opinion on which one to swing????? @ALCOAR any experience/suggestion?

Tough call, but for an extra $60 I might just go ahead and get 5R SS option if I were using it in an "afghan" inspired build.

On the other hand if I were building a high volume 14.5" carbine, I might go for the CL option given the ROF/schedule it would see.

It's been a long time since I've read about the wear differences b/t a SS and CL barrel, but I imagine the CL barrel is going to hold up to heat, and higher round count better than the SS option.

Last but not least, I'd try my best to see what the end product of each will weigh. This might be too difficult to discern, but knowing which one might save you a few ounces could go a long way in the decision making process.

This is really an excellent sale, and it's crazy that the MLRs are even cheaper now than last XMAS sale. Desperately trying to refrain from buying another one as I truly don't need 4 rifle length chassis.

eta: after looking at the 16" CL barrel, and then the 5R SS 18" sale barrel....it looks like they have the same profiles, and with the same gas length they should be very close to the same weight. So I guess that is irrelevant when deciding.

Thanks for the information.

I almost jumped on the 5R simply because it is a great deal.

I suppose beings I am building a well rounded, Recce’ish rifle, leaning towards precision, rather than a DMR, the chrome lined is probably more appropriate. LMT seems to make C/L barrels that are capable of producing 1 MOA or better w/ good ammunition, but barrels are a hit or miss proposition. Hopefully I get a shooter.

My 10.5 stainless noveske seems to be marketed as a high rate of fire barrel, but I’m unsure if noveske and lmt are comparable in that regard.

What a crock of shit. LMT’s site said order had failed twice. But it shows my bank account process both transactions. Contacted LMT and they were very rude and said that it doesn’t show that the order went through. I asked him what I could do to make sure that I got the sale price and my order was taken and she said nothing. In the meantime my bank is closed and I have a daily fraud limit. And now on top of all of this I can’t even enter payment information on LMT’s website. She couldn’t guarantee my order and said it is first come first serve. I can’t stand people I’ll take a wage understanding what it in tails and speak with contempt and offer no solution. Annoying. I guess I’m out then....

That's awful service, and sorry you had experience with them. As stated in the MWS thread, maybe Joe can help you out on the FB LMT groups. He's a really nice guy, and helps us out over there.

I ordered that Chrome BCG last night with a firing pin, cam pin, cotter pin, and D&H mag in order to get free shipping. My order went through no problem, but again this was at like midnight last night.

Somebody needs to know about that terrible lady that "helped" you earlier.

Dang LMT is on their game.....the chrome carrier, along with a few other things arrived today in the mail. With the free shipping option and all.

This chrome carrier is awesome! It's the exact same finish as the one of the MWS carriers. It's like a matte chrome finish. Staking is excellent as well.

I should have grabbed a few, but forgot when I made my order. For $16 those are a steal.

They would be on their game if these were not regular carriers but the enhanced carrier. That’s the one everyone wants and why they buy LMT. You can get good regular carriers everywhere. Enhanced not so much.

I have their E carriers as well. Not every rifle needs a $160 carrier, and they stopped making the carriers with a chrome finish.

People tend to buy LMT products because they make a ton of awesome products like MRPs, MWSs, MARs lowers, etc.

I'm very happy with my purchase, sorry you don't see the value in a LMT chrome carrier for $75.

Not every rifle needs a $160 carrier,
I have not found the first rifle that does, but it logically seems to be a better design.

He actually reached out to me. LMT has always bent over backwards for me in the 12 + years I’ve been a devout follower. I did have someone else place my order and as of now I believe it went through. It was a PITA though on both unsuccessful and successful orders. I can stomach mistakes though as long as companies remedy issues. What I cannot stand is contemptuous, gross incompetence. If you take a wage, knowing full well what the wage entails, don’t drag your feet and exude contempt. Be a professional not a personal. I’m sure they got slammed and it was frustrating.... tough shit. He was however very Courteous , willing to make sure it is right and seems to want to add some sort of compensation. Swag, discount, etc , who knows. I don’t want anything though. Just what I ordered.

@ALCOAR

18” LMT 5R SS SPR Barrel came in:-) Sadly she’s going back out the door to Marvin Pitts.... The tumultuous wait begins, again.... Last time was 4.5 months for my sons MR556.

So far this holiday season I’ve added The barrel, two atlas bipod‘s (another PSR and one V8 I got on their insane Black Friday Sale) x2 Larue MBT2S triggers (I hope this was not a mistake venturing away from my beloved Geissele’s), KAC 5 segment mlok x2, M118LR Ammunition, Federal Gold Medal Match Ammunition, Battle Arms Development BAD-CASS Safeties x2, Surefire Socom Brake, two PMAGs and about to write a check for the barrel work. I intend on getting 2-3 Scalarworks Leap Mounts soon and hopefully an Optic shortly after...

Still need are glass n mounts as stated, 45 KAC Irons x2, rail scales x2 sets.

Way down the road I’d like two Surefire cans, a better mil/mil spotting scope and two more shooting tripods. I’ll post updates.

Hopefully next year brings more kit.

Dang, your only problem is you only buy the best :D

Those Scalarwork mounts are incredible. I don't intend to buy optic mounts from anybody else in the future. So blown away by my first T-2 mount. Can't imagine how nice those scope mounts are.

Great to hear the barrel came in. As I said in the MWS thread....hope to see a range report before it goes out the door. It will provide most excellent feedback as well in terms of barrel work vs stock barrels.

I know. Anything decent is pricey. So many good options today. Problem is, after reading my list, I’ve bought flat screen televisions before the foundation is built and my platforms haven’t taken useable form. So many sales this year though.

I hope scalarworks is worth admission. The click drive 4-5 in lbs, scares me. But I’ve heard all positives. The micro mounts are svelt. I wish I had read up on them before my son ordered his Larue Mount.

Hopefully the t&e comes to fruition. Data would probably suggest I’m giving massive trade offs with little return.

I’ll try and properly stage some gear photos as things progress. Hopefully I’ll gain traction and have something post worthy. I wouldn’t mind seeing some new staged photos of your newest addition and your OG unicorns.

Thanks for all the feedback these years. Happy New Years and much good fortune.

You're a mighty kind man, and I appreciate the kind words friend.

Your MWS game is the one I've wanted to copy for a few years now, so maybe this will be the year I can get going in your direction.

I enjoy, and appreciate all your feedback as well, and really look forward to seeing all your amazing builds come to fruition.

Uber projects like yours take time, but not cutting corners certainly has it's benefits in the long run.

Happy New Year brother!
