View Full Version : I have a benelli, what shotgun do you have?

I have a benelli M4 and a M3 I have shot my M3 quite a bit and I really like it only draw back is that the inertia recoil system does not allow me to put my sling that holds 15 shells on it and use it in semi-auto I have to either switch to pump mode or take the sling off (which is what I have done). Apart from that fact I really like it and plus I think I like it better without the sling. Ive had my M4 for two years I think but I have yet to shoot it :o, the only thing either shotgun has in extras is a mag. extender. I want a mossberg 590 also, thats a purchase I'll make in the future for sure. So what kind of shotgun do you have, and if you have more than one brand, which one is your favorite?

I have a Benelli Nova tactical with the rifle sights. But my favorite is the Russian Saiga 12.

Scattergun

I have been thinking about a Benelli M1 but haven't completely made up my mind yet.

I do have a few others

1-Ithaca MAG10
3-Ithaca M37 1 is an AOW
4-Remington 870 2 are SBS
1-Remington 1100
1-Winchester 1300
1 Winchester 101 Diamond Grade
1-SAIGA-12 Tromix SBS conversion

I perfer the feel of the old M37

Currently I have a Benelli M4, and a Mossberg 590A1. Both run flawlessly. I used to have an HK/Benelli M1S90. One of these days, I'm going to pick up a Scattergun 870, and possibly a SBS Siaga 12.

I use two. A Benelli Super Nova with ghost ring, pistol grip, extended mag tube. I'm not thrilled with it but it was cheap. It's my throw away don't cry if it gets stolen out of my car gun.

My primary and old duty gun is a Scatterguns 11-87 K-9. It has a lot of rounds through it and still shoots up a storm. The Remington is the gun I would carry for serious social use or for training.

I have:
Benelli M4
Benelli M2 Field
Remington 870
Mossberg 500
Mossberg 590
Stoeger Coach Gun (for cowboy shoots)
Sears & Roebuck (Stevens?) double barrel.

And I think that's it. It's difficult to pick a favorite, each has a purpose. For a HD shotty, probably the Mossberg 500. It's proven reliable and it's one of the less expensive ones.

Did you compare it to a regular barrel? I've wondered if the vang comp barrels would provide any improvement over my current 18 inch barrel.

My first firearm was my M1super 90, runs like a bat out of hell. I liked it so much I bought another so I had a pair. Also have:
97 trench, Mdl 12 trench, 590 Vang comped, a M121, H & K 512 , Browing A-5 Police gun, Rhodesian marked and an 870.

I guess it is good that I do not collect shotguns.

Beretta 1201FP, Benelli Nova Tac, Rem 1100. Of the 3 the Remington is probably my favorite although I shot a perfect round of skeet with the Beretta 1201FP you shoulda seen the looks from the O/U crew.:D I also own 1 Beretta 390, 1 Winchester Supreme O/U. And have owned 11/87's, 870's, Beretta 686, Beretta Pintail, Browning Gold and A5's and a Citori trap, Ithica 37 and Century series trap, Mossberg 500 and 9200. I'm kind of a shotgun guy.

no need to wonder.......there is a huge improvement...backboring makes for tighter buckshot groups and the porting makes for less muzzle rise....

well worth it

A Benelli M1 Super 90 and a Winchester Defender with a Pachmayr pistol grip and forend (very compact).

I would like to get a Benelli M4 but can't afford it.

...my sling that holds 15 shells
Bit of advice... those bandoleer slings are a detriment to more than what you have discovered; the weight of a dozen plus shotgun shells swinging back and forth under a shouldered gun, make holding the gun steady on target next to impossible.

Not sure what the odds are of you ever having to carefully exclude good guys from your field of fire... but that sling don't make it any easier, trust me :(

I have a Benelli M4, a 590, and a bunch of 870's...I have to say I've never shot the M4, mainly because I always seem to grab something else..

They are really nice shotguns...I'm not sure if they are worth all the money compared to a basic 870 though...

In the event of a SHTF situation I'd have to think the 870 or 590 would be a better choice in the long run..they both are extremely durable and parts are always around..

The M4 was sort of a "cool" purchase and might get sold..lol

Benelli

I have a tactical model and a M1 12ga, M1 20 ga.

I have not ever had an issue with any of them that wasn't ammo related. A few dud primers in some skeet loads.

Having that integral magazine cut off is extremely useful in a run-n-gun crow hunting situation. When it is time to displace to another stand, just pull back the handle and eject the shell. Move to a new hide, put it back in. Don't have to do any weird manipulations to keep from having a live shell in place while walking.

Just need to make sure you full seat the bolt so you don't get the "Benelli click".:haha:

Surf,

I bought the M4 just to help out a bud that needed the cash. It's too long for practical purposes, for me as a work gun anyway. The M3 was bought on a whim. Again, doesnt fit a work purpose for me so no reason to keep it. I have a 12" 870 that does everything I need it to at 1/2 thier size. :)
