There's an Arsenal SLR-105A1 for sale - $1200 shipped, 20 rounds fired. Good deal?

My knee jerk reaction is to say no, it's too high, but the market has really gone crazy on these.

It's about the only factory built AK-74 out there, and they haven't been sold for about 2 years now.

The availability of inexpensive surplus 5.45mm has also helped drive prices up.

I don't see prices coming down on the 105's any time soon.

Regardless of the actual market for it, I can't help that it's still just a gun that someone paid ~$900 for a year or two ago.

Hell, I was selling the post ban rifles for $499.99 prior to Sept 04, and after the AWB collapsed, and the 105A1's were released, I was selling the A1's for $599.99.

Just market value. Doesn't have to make a whole lot of sense, unfortunately.

I kept telling the teacher that in my economics class in college and I still got a C. I wish they could have taught how markets work plus supply and demand with AK sales - I know I would have paid more attention then.

When ammo was scarce, 105s were pretty cheap. I know Chris Butler kept wanting my to buy ones he converted - I never did though! I did end up buying one a guy had him put an AK105 front end on - and for a lot less than $1200!

I tend to knee jerk agree with Templar, but it is what it is.

I can remember buying SAR-2's from AIM Surplus for $269 apiece!! That wasn't that long ago - I should have bought twenty!! :p

Thread hijack: AIM (no, I don't work for them) still has great prices on 5.45mm Russian surplus but I have a feeling it will be going up in price.

Buy cheap stack deep - while you still can.

I saw that about RGuns' 5.45 Dec 1 increase. I heard AIM is going up also. Kind of like gravity, only the other way.
