A few friends and I are sailing from SC down to Florida and then across to the Bahamas this month. We will probably be flying back to the US. I want to take at least a pistol and if possible a shotgun or AR. Does anyone have experience traveling in this type of situation or can you steer me towards some sources of info? I’m specifically concerned about getting firearms off the boat in the Bahamas and flying them back to the US. Any help would be appreciated.

I have a friend who is a captain of a private yacht from what I understand you can't take them off the boat without a "special permit" (money)
I'm sure ar's and pistols are more controlled...a shotgun might be your only option

Any chance I can get in touch with him or vice versa?

I'll try to reach him, when hes on down time he usually turns his phone off and flys his 172

Quick google search turned this up:

I think you're better off leaving your guns at home...Especially since you can't leave with them via air.
