View Full Version : Does a 10 mm upper exist?
I have searched with no results for a 10 mm upper and only found negative feedback on .40 ca uppers.
Is there a company that makes a 10 mm upper or if not, a reliable .40 ca upper.
I want one of these two rounds out of preference, I don't really care for the 9mm. Even though the only thing I will ever shoot at is paper targets during some 'tacticool' fantasies or the errant squirrel.
Thanks guys
FWIW: Olympic used to make a 10x25mm upper. The original model was even gas operated. I can't vouch for their quality though.
Why the interest in 10 mm uppers?
we got one in the store that i work for, its a real early olympic, its kinda wierd. it has a pistol length gas system. none of us has ever messed with it, we got it at one of the auctions around here.

Just preference, if there was a .44 mag or a .357 mag, I would probably prefer that...It pretty much boils down to I do not want a 9mm. Once again it is preference...I don't like 9 mm.

From what I have heard, Olympic does not have a good rep with their uppers.

I've been toying with the idea of a 10mm upper myself. Doesn't seem to be many companies or custom makers out there that are willing to work on something that may or may not sell to a large number of folks. Can't really blame them considering the time and effort that would have to be expended vs. the potential return. Probably the best bet will be a home-brewed one....

Oly does make a 10 mm upper that uses a modified uzi mag., but I have heard mixed reviews with Oly on their pistol uppers. I've heard the 9 mm works great, but the .40 ca has feeding problems. I can't find anything about the 10 mm reliabilty.

I had a Oly 10mm upper, and it worked very well with M3 mags and a Cav Arms MKII lower.

How come you got rid of it?
Can anyone vouch for Oly's quality since they're are the only ones who produce this upper? All I read is the negative, but I also know most of the time people are only vocal with negative stuff and when it works well people tend to keep it to themselves.

The reason i got rid of it is complicated and boring, but I did not sell it because I was unhappy with it. It was reasonably accurate and 100% reliable in the configuration I had it.
I am going to build another 10mm upper with Oly parts soon.
As for quality, it looked good enough, and like I said was reliable and accurate enough for its purpose. I never put it through a real demanding course of fire, so I don't know how it would stand up to that.

If you like a .500 ...why not go with a beowulf upper! .460 would be very cool though!
actually since I posted this topic I looked into the beowolf and I am wanting to try that, but with all the panic these days you can't find an AR part to save your life. I wish people would calm down.
Thanks for the help guys.

If you want to go BiG, the 458 Socom is another option.
Many bullet choices and brass is easy to find.
