Just what you've been waiting for, right?

Test Conditions: Uh, partly cloudy, about 75 degrees and the muzzle was about 5 ft away from the ProChrono. 5-shots each. There ya go.

Test Gun: Ruger LCR .327 Federal 1 7/8 in barrel or thereabouts. The gun is brand new. This was it's first trip out.

.32 S&W (Short) Magtech 85 gr LRN
Average 692 fps
Low 690 fps
High 699 fps
Extreme Spread 9 fps (!)

(this was the only cartridge with casings shorter than the ejector rod)

.32 S&W Long PPU 98 gr LRN
Avg 647

Yup, the "Short" .32 was faster and with much less spread. Case-size efficiency?

.32 H&R Magnum Hornady 80 gr FTX JHP Critical Defense
Avg 1012

H 1032

.32 ACP: .32 acp Geco would only ignite half the time due to the firing pin barely reaching the primer. About 20 rounds of each S&B and Fiocchi fired fine. However velocities were extremely erratic! For example six shots of Fiocchi went 742, 804, 520, 638, 543, and 661. They even sounded erratic!

The .32 acp wasn't very accurate either. However for training under 10 yds it's perfectly fine. (can keep in "A" zone) But you will have to poke casings out with a pencil or similar.

It would have been nice if the .32 acp worked out better. Ah well. Still cool that the revolver can fire 5 different cartridges.

Just bored with normal drills/practice?

I see you did a series of these today. Some good info posted, thank you.

Just bored with normal drills/practice?

Curiosity.

Although the Hornady .32 mag will probably be the wife's carry load in this gun. Would like to test Georgia Arms .32 mag when I get some. They make a couple JHP .32 mag loads.

I already like this gun more than the LCR .38 and .357. Shorter trigger travel, extra round, pleasant practice.

Interesting stuff. How does the round stack up ballistically against others?

Chrono'd some more rounds from the LCR 1 7/8 in. .327 Fed recently.

Good load. I am concerned if the bullet expands well it won't penetrate much.

It's hotter than the Hornady in recoil and muzzle blast. Sounds like a very hot .38 +p. But recoils like a standard 125 / 130 gr .38.
The numbers back that up. Easy ejection, not likely to expand from what I've read about this bullet. Probably the best carry load so far because it will penetrate well at least. (5 shots)

.32 ACP Fiocchi 73 gr.

I've yet to have a misfire from this ammo in this gun. But power is erratic. At 15 yds I still had decent accuracy for practice.
(5 shots) This ammo is great from a .32 acp pistol but sucks from a revolver. But it's the cheapest thing to shoot from this gun.
