View Full Version : This makes it hard to focus...
I was at the range today shooting some distance with my new rifle and Dillon Aero was at the next bay testing some guns. Not the best conditions for focusing on marksmanship fundamentals. Hahaha.

walks over can I have a go :)
That’s too cool! I would have tried to find where they were firing from and watched close up.

"Sir, the range rules state no rapid fire! One round per second!"

They were about 50 yards to the left of me. I see them a few times a year between this range and Ben Avery.
This range has a rule of "leave Dillon alone" and the owner/manager was driving around all morning.

I swear, that was the first thing in my mind as well. An RSO running up in a tight-lipped fury, screaming about rate of fire.

I’ll bet all the range guys know the days Dillon will be out, and they all show up like puppies at meal time.
Makes me think of the below.....

LOL, no doubt!
"Uh, hi guys, I thought I'll grill you up some nice steak sandwiches for lunch. Say, while you are eating those, would you mind if I squeezed off a few rounds?"
I feel like if I had a minigun in my life that I still wouldn’t be content.

Perhaps having someone like this to help with "testing"?

You would, if you had your pilot's license.
And it was mounted to your helicopter.

“The target needs to be at 25 yards!!”

As long as I could afford to feed it regularly; it would definitely make me damn close. I’m recovering from spinal fusion surgery so not perfectly content at the moment. Hopefully in 4-6 more weeks I can get back to the range. That will help.
Everyone needs to go to the Dillon Aero website and read the 'about us' section. Fascinating story.
A looong time ago I rocked a Dillon Aero 'we bring old guns to life' tee-shirt. Kinda disappointed they are no long available, IIRC, I bought mine through the Blue Press.
Hmmm, I was under the impression that Dillion had their own gyhugic mega range for testing their stuff, aerial and otherwise.

Me too. Like I got to go to the actual Glock and Colt factories over the years a few times. I thought it was like this huge facility of oompa loompas singing songs and pumping out magnificence.
Nope. If your gun comes from Smyrna, it was de-importized by either a Korean dude or a black chick.
If you have an M4 or M16A4, it was likewise assembled by a black chick. Not some bearded dude who looks like a medieval blacksmith.
The warehouses are kinda organized chaos. The indoor Glock range is very modest for their instructors/Submachine gun classes.
I remember I got to talk to this one older black lady for Colt who says she has been putting together M16s for 30 years (c. 2008ish) and says she keeps working just to keep spoiling her grandkids. Kindly old lady. Plump. Big glasses. She reminded me of the black lady from The Stand who says she was 100 years old and still makes her own bread.
She says menfolk can’t fit the pieces and pins in like women can. Having survived a buncha AR armorers courses, I believe it.
I always thought it was neat that every M4 or 1911 someone used in duty or war was made by some lady.

My pick is similar, just a tad more old fashioned.

I have a granddaughter to help load and fire.

No kidding. I hardly shoot my G3 or 21 any more. Running a mini gun would make me smile for a couple seconds then start counting money.
