Since he was surrounded by FBI informants and UC agents, I'd guess that they convinced him it would be easy.

Or he's really dumb.

In the press conference Wednesday, Special Agent in Charge of FBI Atlanta Chris Hacker said that the investigation is ongoing, but at this stage it is believed that Taheb was acting alone.......

except for the FBI agents who were helping him plan. :jester:


Not to scoff at national security, but some of these cases remind of this poor guy in Nebraska:

The Supreme Court on Monday restricted the government`s use of some kinds of sting operations by reversing the child-pornography conviction of a Nebraska farmer.

Voting 5-4, the court said federal agents had entrapped Keith Jacobson into buying a magazine depicting young boys engaged in sex by sending him, for 26 months, bogus solicitations promoting sexual freedom and child pornography. The court said the agents could not prove that Jacobson was inclined to purchase child pornography through the mail, a federal crime, before they targeted him in the sting.

Jacobson, a 61-year-old war veteran who lives on a remote farm near Newman Grove, Neb., became a target for U.S. Postal Service inspectors in 1984 because his name appeared on the mailing list of a California adult bookstore raided by the government.

In February 1984, Jacobson had ordered two nudist magazines, Bare Boys I and Bare Boys II, from the bookstore.

The magazines did not violate federal law since they were not considered obscene. But three months later, Congress made it a federal crime to receive child pornography even if it is not obscene and not intended for commercial use.

For nearly 2 1/2 years, investigators sent Jacobson a variety of materials dealing with sex, including sexual attitude surveys from fictitious groups and letters from a bogus pen pal.

He responded to the surveys, indicating an interest in homosexual activities but saying he opposed pedophilia. He wrote twice to the pen pal.

Finally, in 1987, he ordered a $25 magazine called Boys Who Love Boys through another fake government company, the ''Far Eastern Trading Co.'' A catalog blurb said that in the magazine ''11-year-old and 14-year-old boys get it on in every way possible.''

Federal agents followed Jacobson home after he picked up the magazine at the post office and arrested him. A jury convicted him the next year and sentenced him to two years` probation and 250 hours of community service, which he has completed.

White said the government agents had no evidence that Jacobson collected or was actively interested in child pornography when they targeted him. While his responses to the undercover mailings showed an interest in sexually oriented photos, that would ''hardly support an inference that he would commit the crime of receiving child pornography through mails,'' White said.
