About 65 degrees out. About 5ft from Chonry. 5-shots each.

S&W Shield .45 2.0 3.3 inch barrel.

S&B 230 gr FMJ.

H. 658 fps
L. 627 fps
Extreme spread 31 fps
Average 646 fps

Soft shooting load as you could imagine. If you want to carry FMJ but don't want 25 inches of test-gel penetration here ya go. This would probably do about 18-20 inches. Great practice ammo.

Here is the same ammo from a S&W Full-size 4.6 inch 2.0 pistol:

H. 752
L. 709
ES. 43
Avg. 727

Now for some Winchester Ranger T 230 gr JHP.

From the Shield:

H. 818
L. 770
ES. 48
Avg. 797

Will the Ranger T expand under 800 fps? At 770 fps? I have my doubts. I don't think I'll use these in a 3.3 inch Shield. Probably won't expand. And if they expand big, probably won't penetrate much.

Here is the Ranger T from the 4.6 inch Full size S&W:

H. 880
L. 821
ES. 59
Avg. 857

Georgia Arms 185 gr Gold Dot +p JHP from the Shield:

H. 985
L. 942
ES. 43
Avg. 963

Same blast, a little less "push" than the 230 gr Ranger T. I like this ammo. Seems to shoot to the same point of aim too, oddly.

From the Full-Size 4.6 inch:

H. 1084
L. 1050
ES. 34
Avg. 1062

Too fast for this bullet? I don't know.

Now for the last of my Federal Personal Defense Hydrashok 165 gr JHP:

From the Shield:

H. 872
L. 865
ES. 7
Avg. 869

Definitely low recoil.

From the Full-Size 4.6:

H. 1005
L. 958
ES. 47
Avg. 986

Underwood .45 +p 230 gr FMJ

H. 983
L. 943
ES. 40
Avg. 969

Wow. That S&B ball ammo is slow even out of the 4.6.

I think I can throw a bullet that fast. Anyway, if you come across some Federal HST 230 grain I'd like to see what velocities you get.

I got some Underwood +p FMJ to try as a "Trail load".

Ran the S&B as a control and got the same @730 fps average from it.

The Underwood is rated at 1000 fps. With a slightly longer barrel and warmer weather it would probably do it.

Results were added to the original post.

It felt like a +p .45 acp, nothing extreme. Averaged about 970 fps.

900-920 is what I've observed from my Kart barreled 1911. This is std psi. Never bothered to chrono the +P stuff that I can recall. Once you see a 230gr pill ring up 900+ it kind of makes you question why you would need anything more.

That is a little surprising for a non +p .45 round.

I was more surprised that it actually matched what was advertised. I've heard of some getting 880-890. Could be lot to lot delta, or just barrel differences.
