View Full Version : Does it matter which spring you use for a 10.5in SBR/Pistol?

Good evening everyone! I bought a regular carbine lower awhile back... Do you think a regular carbine spring will work for a 10.5in rifle? Or is there a special spring needed to run SBRs? If so, what do you recommend?

Thanks everyone!

Chris

Regular spring should be fine, its the buffer you should be changing if anything. H2 or H buffer for a 10.5" will likely be better overall than a carbine buffer. If you want additional tuning you can always get an extra power spring.

My experience is that H & H2 buffers are always better than CAR buffers.

Use a quality action spring. Cheapies will quickly sack.

Agreed on the Colt Carbine Spring, and an H2 buffer (at least). Most 10.5 barrels are over gassed... In fact, I can't think of any that aren't. An H2 is probably fine if there's no suppressor.

Yep, that's the one. Good price and free shipping. Hard to beat that. I'd do 2 of them.

I used to get them at Brownells, but I haven't ordered any in a few years.

I have several SBRs. I will only use Colt, Vltor or Sprinco springs.

Just bought a Colt H2 buffer and Colt spring x2. Both were pretty cheap (around $45 for everything) and got free shipping! Thanks for the help everyone! :)
