This is a picture of a supposedly NIB Colt 6920 that I just picked up from the dealer... was I raided? Also, there is NO "C" marking on the bolt carrier and only an "M" on the bolt itself. *UPDATE* I figured out the issue and am pretty embarrassed by the whole deal. When I got the gun, I took it to my fathers house. We tore down his S&W and the Colt to compare innards. About that time, we were rushed out of the house by mom and sister to go out and hastily threw them back together. When I posted the photo on ar15.com and got the reply about the bcg, I was so mad that I forgot if the box had been opened or not and went straight to looking for blood. Needless to say, I have confirmed that the Colt bcg is in the S&W. Completely noobish mistake on my part but still not a bad idea to take your gun down AT THE DEALERS to ensure that every part belongs to that gun. Sorry for the confusion and flame away if needed as it is warranted in this case.

my 6920 is not stacked like that. mine was a summer 08 production. perhaps they could have changed the way they stack BCG. Is it at least a auto m16 bolt carrier?

definitely not Colt.

that might be a CMT carrier, perhaps?

did you buy this rifle from the dealer, or did the dealer just do the transfer? either way, somebody is being dishonest.

that sucks  let us know how the situation develops.

Not a Colt carrier, looks like CMT.

I've got 2 6920s, and neither one is staked like that.

I have a Colt 6601 and it is not staked anywhere near like that.

I've never seen any Colt AR staked that way.

I'd send that picture to Colt. If they deny it's their work, I'd demand my
money back from the dealer.

No telling what else he switched out on that gun.

Can you post several pictures of the complete bolt and carrier?

I can't see the pic here at work. but I'm interested to see if Colt has something to say.

Thats a CMT/Stag. Its identical to the one that came out of my Early M&P15. I can take a photo of it if you want, but its exactly like that.

Some dishonest person swapped the carrier out.

Yah take a pic from the S&W, I have a feeling I may know what happened.

I just pulled the bolt on my 6920, and it does not match that picture. Mine was purchased in the spring of 2007.

Best of luck to you, and let us know the name of the dealer.

Colt parts bring good money.

I hope the original poster follows up on this and let's us know the outcome.

What did Colt say?

Post some more pictures? No telling what that crook ripped off
from that Colt 6920?

Please keep us posted. I just received my 2nd Colt 6920 a 2 weeks ago and it looks nothing like that. Take it back to the dealer. If he can't explain it, get your money back and post the name of the dealer. That is totally BS swapping BCG's like that.

Kind of reminds me of how some dealers used to pull the spare magazine out of the box when they got a new pistol in and sold them seperately.

With the buying frenzy going on it would probably be a service to all to post the dealers name.

Those are both clearly CMT bolt carrier groups.

CMT, and I personally question if that staking technique is legit.

Find your camera's manual and look up "macro mode".

At this point I think everyone agrees it is a CMT, not a colt. The question remains, who is the vendor that sold you this?

No, it wouldn't have been a service to anybody.

Now that we've seen the outcome of this, it should be clear why the forum's policy is that nobody names names until they've checked with the retailer or manufacturer in question.

It's good that you figured it out.

Valhalla79
11-09-08, 22:02
Yah, I'm glad I didn't let emotions get the best of me and post the dealers name as that would have only served to smear that merchants reputation. Even with the outcome clearly documented, people are strange like that and may have resisted purchasing from that merchant. I will however say that the dealer I bought it from on gunbroker was far and away THE BEST I have used thus far, everything was pristine, even the factory Colt box tape was pristine without a wrinkle or crease in it.

You might want to update the first post to show that the error was on your part, and not on the part of Colt or the dealer. That way when people are reading the post and thinking bad things, they won't miss the update buried a few pages in.

I bought my 6920 from the same place and at the same time as valhalla. After reading his post I went and checked mine out and everything was cool....BCG was stamped with a C and everything looked like it should.

The good news about his "scare" is that I actually learned quite a bit about my new 6920 and what a real Colt versus other manufacturer's BCG's look like!

Valhalla79

Yah, mine was a complete goofball move on my part but at the least it may have served as a refresher course on attention to detail. Never break down 2 weapons simultaneously on the same work station and if you do, pay attention to detail. Also, when you buy a firearm, new or used, always break it down and ensure all the parts that are in it go with that firearm, unless otherwise noted before hand.

glad it was all sorted out.

thanks for changing your initial thread to avoid confusion.

its good you didn't play I'll-show-you-mine-you-show-me-yours with me. the next day, i would have said "finder's keppers. this is my carrier group now :p enjoy your CMT"
