View Full Version : Rifle stocks better than the Magpul UBR 2: what's the latest?
For years we waited for this:
UBRŪ GEN2 Collapsible Stock
https://www.magpul.com/products/ubr-2-0-collapsible-stock?ProductColor=VO343
There was lots of anticipation and excitement. There was even a Bionic Man commercial.
It finally came and it was cool.
Is this still the ultimate stock?
I see lots of stocks that look like this:
https://www.noveske.com/products/gen-4-n4-pdw-10-5-light-shorty-5-56
They have "arms" that slide along the lower.
If cost was not a factor - what would you get today?

The UBR always kind of held a special place in the stock lineup. It was designed to be a brutal beast. The smaller PDW style stocks like you showed are just the newest thing on the market. In another 5 years, it will be something else.

Apples vs. Oranges. Two completely different style of stock for two different purposes.
Controversial question but what about the Ergo F93?
I missed the M93 boat in the day and always liked the aesthetic and wanted one.
Yeah or stick with UBR?
Not a work gun but a hunting raifu

The 93 should be a very good stock, it was a Magpul item before the UBR, then the design was sold/ licensed.
I find that the new UBR 2 does not have a lock on the stock, so the bottom release tab catches on EVERYTHING and causes the stock to slide into its most open position at the worst times. I can just relax and let go of the rifle and the tab often grabs onto a mag and slide open, doing mag changes in unorthodox shooting positions on the push out the tab grabs the side of a mag and will release to full extension. Besides that I LOVE the stock, but I wouldn't have bought it with what I know now. Won't get another one until the fix protect the release tab or put a lock on the the thing. Really annoying and disappointing. Love Magpul, but I think the UBR2 is not good to go. YMMV. My .02
