Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) has decided to run for president on an anti-Second Amendment platform (while exhibiting a clear lack of understanding about guns), and has reiterated his desire to imprison Americans who don't hand over banned weapons.
Appearing on CNN's "State of the Union" with Jake Tapper on Sunday, Swalwell - who last year joked about nuking gun owners who refuse to give up their firearms - discussed his longstanding proposal to ban so-called 'assault weapons.'
TAPPER: So, gun control is the central plank in your campaign.You wrote last year -- quote -- "We should ban possession of military- style semiautomatic assault weapons. We should buy back such weapons from all who choose to abide by the law. And we should criminally prosecute any who choose to defy it by keeping their weapons." Criminal prosecution for keeping assault weapons. What's the punishment for people who don't hand in their guns? Do they go to jail?
SWALWELL: Well, Jake, they would, but I also offer an alternative, which would be to keep them at a hunting club or a shooting range. And the reason I have proposed this is because these weapons are so devastating.
My take: Eric "Swallows-well" will just be another "also-ran" in the long list of lefty gun grabbing goons who end up in the dung heap of history.

If this is in fact going to be the response of American gun owners, then I will go else where. For if the USA no longer has a population that will fight for the Constitution, then it will become a cheap forgery of some western eurotrash country.

If NZ is a glimpse then the .gov will say as cowards, ok, guns are illegal and you are all now criminals. What happens next? Do they go to Wayne LaPierre's home? Raid everyone that works for GOA. Go door to door in heavily Democrat neighborhoods and sweep all the guns? How exactly is this confiscation supposed to take place. ... and more importantly how can it be stopped?

Time is on the side of the underdog. Nobody surrenders in "wars" these days, not unless they are totally overrun and then it's annihilation, not surrender. There will never be another signing of a formal surrender on the deck of the USS Missouri, be it abroad or right here at home. Those days are gone. No one gives it up, they just go underground and get even nastier.
That's one thing I don't understand about the left and guns: things aren't "broke", so why are they Hell-bent on "fixing" them? With the wave of a pen they will have created several million instant felons. People who, by and large, are productive citizens, many of whom have served their countries and are at least reasonably well-off (guns ain't a hobby for broke-dicks after all). Of course we all know it's about power and consolidating it, but their nonchalant attitude about waving that pen is bewildering. I know a lot of you guys say "You won't do jack shit, you'll comply". Sure, some will. But if Americans are known for one thing it is bucking authority; hell, look at how we came to be a nation. I don't know how the actual stats ended up shaking out when all was said and done, but there was at one point estimated to have been 85% non-compliance when the Connecticut laws went into effect. So apparently a huge number of CT gun owners were refusing to register or dispose of their guns, defying the ban......in the most useless way possible.
Because their defiance constitutes hiding their contraband guns in the crawlspace because of the consequences of getting caught with them. They don't dare shoot them, they don't dare bring them out of the house, the guns won't do anything but sit hidden away for years. The guns remain in their possession but through their own actions have been rendered irrelevant. They defied the letter of the law but actually still complied with the spirit of it.
The Antis don't need to come get our guns if they are able to scare us into locking them away and never touching them.

Firefly: I know a good number of folks who took road trips and purchased crates of mags, even for guns they don’t own yet. I also know a great number of folks who prior to freedom week would grab a handful of mags every time they left the state and I’m positive they will continue to do so even with what they acquired during freedom week.
And, now with the BS ammo law, they’re going to include ammo with those out of state mag purchases. Bootlegging is alive and well here in CA
