So, I have a Harris BRM (6-9" notched legs, no swivel, Magpul MLOK mount) on my rifle.
I'm considering getting a Magpul MLOK bipod. There doesn't seem to be a good photo comparison of the two, or weight comparison for these configurations. Can anyone help? Worth it?
Here's my rifle for reference:

I had both. The Magpul one is good nut I felt that it was too bulky and stuck out too much when retracted. Don't get me wrong, the MagPul one is built like a tank and is yet light weight. I just wish they made a QD version for a Pic rail. Until then I will stick with my Harris

I have used Harris bipods for years and have several. Last year, I built another AR which had a M-LOK handguard and had full intention of adding a bipod. I was ready to buy another Harris until I saw that MAGPUL was releasing their new bipod. In lieu of this, I made the purchase of their M-LOK bipod. I have another AR with the M-LOK adapter and Harris bipod, but I found that the MAGPUL M0LOK bipod was much simpler to install and lighter than the Harris. Both bipods work very well for me. If someone is looking to add a bipod, but is wanting to keep the weight down, using the MAGPUL is a better way to go.

I love my Magpul bipod, but will point out it doesn't "hug up" to the handguard very well when not in use. There is a new Magpul QD version out based on the using a sling stud, so it might be worth looking over.

You can get the Magpul ARMS bipod, then buy an American Defense 170-S Base to make it into a QD one.

This picture is what I needed. I like the low profile of the Harris, so I'll be keeping that.
Thanks

I echo this, it is very bulky. The Harris is a good balance, I prefer the Atlas only downfall (in a sense) is slower deployment. That debate is arguable in my opinion and mine being comparable to a draw, you should have or should have known to be aware and have it out.
The Harris I prefer is the Larue QD model, 6-9" swivel with knotted legs.

This. I also agree with this 100%.

Well said.

For comparison: the Arisaka QD mount tucks the Harris close to the rail and sheds a bit of weight and bulk.

M536 Steiner didn’t leave room for rear buis, so it has Magpul offsets with rear mounted just ahead of ejection port.

copy, couldn't see the other side, thought it was something different.

Harris Bipods have different designations depending on where or who you buy from. For example on their own website they list a HBRM, at Brownells it’s BRM OR BRMS, at Midwayusa it’s 1A2 BRM. Kind of confusing.

I like the Harris, the Atlas and my personal favorite is TangoDown. You don't see those around much, but I love 'em.

Is this really an accurate comparison of a Harris and MagPul? Yes, the MagPul hangs down more when stowed, but that is due to the tilt/pan feature the Harris doesn’t have. If an adapter is used with the Harris to gain those features, the amount of downward protrusion is nearly equal.

I have a couple Harris bipods, but much prefer the Atlas due to the ability to run the legs at 45 degrees front and backwards. The Atlas also has the pan/tilt functionality, as well as the ability to add leg extensions etc if needed. The only downside is the price, compared to the Harris or Magpul. I haven't tried the Magpul bipod yet, but might pick one up.

I think best bipod out there is the Modular Evolution Evo bipod, as you get the same functionality of the Atlas, but can completely remove the legs to add extended hunting legs, short spikes for barricades, tripod attachments, etc. But most of those features are more beneficial for PRS shooting, and not necessarily running on an AR.

I'm running a Harris HBLMS in a GG&G QD mount. This is the 9-13" notched leg, tilting model. I find that for prone shooting it allows for plenty of panning even though there isn't a mechanism specifically for that. I also have a 6-9" HBRM that is perfect for bench use.

I have all the above like so many. I think if your trying to keep weight down and your rocking a bolt gun. The Magpul is a good option. I don’t like Magpul for an AR.

I put an mlok version on a RPR budget build. Happy with it for a beater.
