I searched and haven't seen any updated info on rail panels for Mlok rails in awhile. What is the new hotness in this space? I saw a set of what looked to be rubber inserts on Cloud Defense's FB and it got me thinking of what is new. If anyone knows who made these ones, then I would be interested in hearing the name and if you have any experience with them. Thanks.

Not sure what those are. Geissele just dropped some new ones on their instgram account

In my opinion the Noveske keymod rail covers are the best around. I have purchased additional keymod rails because they are so good. Unfortunately they never ported them over to mlok.

It looks the new Geissele M-Lok Rail Panels may be the ticket - https://geissele.com/geissele-m-lok-rail-panels-ddc.html. A bit pricey but I bet they go on sale this weekend. I am not a fan of the rubbery flat mlok covers.

I use Magpul MLok Covers Type 2.

Why? Because I’m fairly new to MLok and they came with a URX4 that I purchased. I’ve been buying them separately also for about a year after trying them on that URX4 because I like the texture and coverage, and they don’t add much weight or bulk. They are now on every MLok handguard I own.

I also use Ergo silicone or whatever rubbery stuff they are made of. I trim them to fit in the bottom 45* slots between the Magpul covers, where my hand normally goes.

The Geissele covers look very much like the Magpul ones....

The guys who do 9 Hole Reviews on YouTube started a company with some nice looking rail covers, but I forget the name. They look similar to Rail Scales but much cheaper and possibly thinner. It looks like they’re made from plastic rather than whatever Rail Scales uses. Personally I was hoping someone would do that, but I haven’t bought any yet.

I saw those. The only thing that sucks with covers like that, if you shoot hard and dont wear gloves the screws turn into heat sinks that burn the f*%k out of you.

Been using the BCM ones for about a year now and so far so good.

Same.

I'm currently using the BCM covers on the sides, because they're thin, and Magpul Type 2s on the bottom to better help with the heat, since the gas block is right where I put my hand on my 11.5".

I don't actually think they stay in place very well. The vibrations cause the center pieces to work out. If it's a cover where you regularly put your hand, it's not a problem.

I have 2 of these in use. No wobble at all and good heat resistance

My Magpul panels stay put. I have cracked some of the center pieces, but that hasn’t affected their function.

I would like to try the Geissele but with the Magpul being so much cheaper think I will stick with them.

I have a set of these on my 11.5" gun, using the handstop. A little bulky, but very grippy, very solid. I like 'em alot.

It seems to me that the best covers depend on the rail diameter and distance between the slots. I wish the BCM covers were a little wider so they didn't leave so much of my ALG V3 rail exposed - I'm not wild about needing gloves to shoot in the summer, winter, or anytime I am putting a lot of rounds downrange.

They do look perfect for BCM rails, naturally.

Same goes for the V2 on leaving exposed areas with the BCM covers. The V1 has additional slots and less exposed metal.

I like the Magpul type 2 covers. I've never had one come loose, in fact I have some that have been on a rail for years and it still takes considerable effort to remove them.

I don't care for the BCM covers at all. Too narrow, too thin, still get toasty.

They are stupid expensive, but I love my Railscales G10 XOS panels. They are sweet on my Centurion C4 handguard, still maintains the small profile and has excellent heat protection.
