View Full Version : The Man Behind the Gun: Eugene Stoner Stories
I just came across this video, which is the first in a series by IMT on Eugene Stoner. Definitely worth a watch.

Very interesting, thank you for the post.
Good. Some insights from Stoner on the initial issues of M-16s in Vietnam. 85,000 rifles without cleaning gear and ball powder without meaningful testing. What could go wrong?
I knew the story but it still made me shake my head—again.
Probably most worthwhile 30 minutes of the day.
Saw an old acquaintance in one of the stills.

Nice find!
If I could have just one wish on M4C for Christmas, since we can't pick Stoner's brain directly, it would be to see an AMA with Jim Sullivan--though with some sorts around here, along with the disaster when RedState had an open "town hall" with Newt Gingrich many years ago, I can understand why management would never take such a risk.

good book, But I would recommend The Great Rifle Controversy by Ezell with the Foreward by Stoner himself. It's got much more AR-15/M16 specific info. It's very hard to find though.
Stoner didn't even have a college degree. Not too shabby. His 5.56 Stoner was a beast, too
