Will this cause any issues? It was given to me to put on one of my AR’s. My buddy said he didn’t remember where he got it he had it for awhile. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190607/50bb84c8bc35e7424b638982710e4730.jpg

The nuts is kind of jacked up. I personally wouldnt use it...dont really need all that pic railage. Dont really like the looks too much either. I would sell it and get something more up to date. What's it going on and do you really need it on your rifle?

Going on a bushmaster. Gonna have to remove the fsb and I have a lo pro gas block to put on it. He knew I was looking to get a rail for it and brought me that one to use

That barrel nut is really a no go. If you really want it on your rifle I would talk to YH about getting a new nut. Unless someone comes along and says it's something else. What handguard is on the rifle now and have you done this type gun wrenching before or watch a friend do it?

The barrel nut and the end cap sure look YHM.

I couldn't find that design on their site, and I noticed that the L rail markings start at L-18 on yours and on the YHM site they start at L-2.

That isn't to say they haven't changed, but I'd send them the pictures to be sure before ordering the barrel nut.

If you want to peddle it (and it is a YHM) PM me, if the price is right I'll use it on a build.

I didn't see it on their site either...I thought is was one of their older discontinued models. Barrel nut looks the same though.

Hardened Arms, recently defunct, used to make a dead ringer for that rail. I have one without a nut in the "Island of Misfit Parts" box a buddy gave me that I've been looking for one too, just so I can try to find it a good home.

As long as you clean out the hole the gas tube goes through I don't see a functional issue beyond the material choice of the barrel nut.

Also the rails are not spec so some mounts, grips, panels, etc might not fit. There should be more clearance under the rail.

Thank you all for the replies I have swapped out several handguards on my other rifles i was just concerned with this one, and was curious if would be functional and as mentioned possibly get a new barrel nut. May just get a new handguard.

Then again, if you've ever wanted to play with a Dolos system this might be a great rail for that.

Picantinny rails are why we won The Great War. They will never be out of date and only girls complain of it hurting their mittens. I agree, if you're looking to use your parts on hand - if it doesn't block the gas tube and the threads are GTG, use it.

Not a fan of that rail or mounting system. There are much better rails out there, though this would be good for some type of beater carbine.

Yeah I agree, I have always been a fan and pleased with MI and really like Geissele. I may put it on, and as you mentioned, if I can find the instructions online about mounting it because just looking at it, it appears very different than how my other rails went on.

On the other hand may just go with one of the other companies mentioned.

Torque the barrel nut down, and keep the jam nut to the very rear, close the receiver. Once you have it torqued and lined up, you tighten the round jam nut down against the rail and then tighten the bottom anti-rotation screw. You need to get the YHM wrench for this.
