I run a CQD vg on a #50 sc S.I.R - # 4 rail and about a week after I got it well dont u know I stripped threads out of 1 hole in the 'V-Bar'.
My question is would it be considered unwise to mount the CQD vg only using 1 cross bolt?
It seems pretty solid with 1 cross bolt but A.R.M.S rails are of the 1913 flavor and the only way I can get my CQD vg exactly where I want it on the rail I have to forego using all three cross bolts and only use one.
I haven't used the spare 'V-Bar' CQD sent me. (Ihad to buy it and as nice as Ericka is/was I could not sweet talk her into a freebee) I instead went to the hardware store on the 8th day and happened across some small 'T' nuts which were the exact same thread pattern as the cross bolt(s) which came with the CQD vg. I ground down the 't' nuts to a smaller diameter - counter sunk the stripped 'V-Bar' and it works better than the 'V-Bar' with fresh threads. I may be able to get my wife to take some pictures I can maybe post later .

Stripping of CQD VG's is somewhat common. I would contact CQD for replacement parts.

Hi Grant
I am good to go , I have contacted CQD and in the end didn't need their 'V-Bar' ...I just have an easier and less expensive solution.
You know I wonder how many CQD vg's are gathering dust because it could get real expensive replacing the 'V-Bar' . With my solution you can torque the cross bolts and get the confident locked feeling when installing the grip.
I'll get my wife to take some pics' later if we dont lose power in the approaching storm.
She went to pick that damn car up...

HD,
I would be real interested in pics to your fix. I've stripped out two grips that are just sitting here. Thanks.

cohiba ...here are the photos sorry it took so long and I take no credit for them being posted
thanks to those and they know who they are...enough with the Stevie Wonder speech...if you
ever been to a hardware go to the fastener drawers - take the CQD screw with you to test
look around til you find those silver screws buy 'em take 'em home grind 'em down some.
Get a bit the same diameter as the 'T-screw' (silver thingy) and counter sink the 'V-Bar' and
"YOU CAN DO IT TOO" !! Pretty simple and much cheaper than the cost of the 'V-Bar' !!
