Swiss 300 meter range shooting across main road

This 300m Swiss rifle range actually shoots across the main road leading up the Simmental. Guess it is important to have electronic target scoring.

Interesting. That could never happen in the US which says something pretty powerful about Swiss gun culture. Probably a good thing, if you did build that in the US some neckbeard would find a way to violate newtonian physics and put rounds into traffic.

Was going to say that under 60 he wouldn't have been issued a K31, but after thinking about it a minute(if I understand how their system works), he likely wouldn't have been in service with someone still using a K31 either.

We lost a small local club because they couldn't afford baffles and 50" tall berms and they only shot to 100 yards. I wonder what membership/range fees cost at that Swiss club.

Let me guess, people who bought houses in the area knowing full well ahead of time there was a gun range nearby complained about the noise after moving in? Drag strips and dirt & asphalt oval tracks are being closed in a lot of places across the country because of this. A lot of these tracks used to be well out in the country 50 years ago. Sub divisions keep expanding now the tracks are surrounded sub division folks.

Funny thing, the range I belong to and the drag strip I race at are about a 1/4 mile apart on the same road. If you're at the track you can hear the shooting at the range. If you're at the range you can hear them racing at the track. Nothing like settling in on your shooting bags and scope with the sounds of a two step bangin off in the distance on a nice relaxing Sunday afternoon!

Exactly! A new development a half mile away complained about the noise and the county got involved. The county actually ask the NRA for advice. The owners just couldn't afford to do what was recommended to make it safe. Funny you mentioned the race tracks. I wealthy local that likes cars built a small oval track in a rural part of the county. It was a first class track built mainly for legends cars. Paved parking, aluminum bleachers, lights.. the works! A handful of locals played the race card, complained about the almost non-existent noise and shut it down. The owner eventually bulldozed down what he spent millions to build.

That is my assumption too and why I think if shit ever hits the fan hard enough, like WWII, there would be ranges like that here and even in pool table flat Florida.

That's safe until you get an end cap kiss that puts the bullet into a vehicle. I've seen bullets vector way off after rubbing the end cap on a suppressor.
