President Trump will be ineligible for California’s primary ballot next year unless he discloses his tax returns under a state law that took effect immediately Tuesday, an unprecedented mandate that is almost certain to spark a high-profile court fight and might encourage other states to adopt their own unconventional rules for presidential candidates.

The law, signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom on the final day he could take action after it passed on a strict party-line vote in the Legislature earlier this month, requires all presidential candidates to submit five years of income tax filings. They must do so by late November to secure a spot on California’s presidential primary ballot in March. State elections officials will post the financial documents online, although certain private information must first be redacted.

Missed that one on the list of eligibility requirements for POTUS.

Could they make candidates turn over all their private electronic records like email and social media?
Health records? Make them show up for a physical? Take an IQ test? Sit for a 'mental health exam"? Compete in a decathalon?
What about their spouses?
Go old school and have them sign a form saying that they aren't a Papist?

Trump continues to make the left go insane. The scary thing is that they are making law and precedent based on Trump. Maybe we can use that to stymie a leftist autocrat later, but I imagine the same leftist judges will give them a wide berth.

-birth certificates (yes, really, why not?)
-DNA test to prove parentage (as basis for citizenship, or just for kicks)
-all college applications as submitted (let's see what you claimed when you were 18!)
-college financial aid applications (ditto)
-all sources of funds for college, grad school, and all political campaigns back to kindergarden
-professional license application details
-professional license disciplinary records
etc. etc. etc.

Do that and I'm going to bet Mike Pence would be the only eligible candidate, now or in the foreseeable future. He makes Mr. Clean look dirty.
