Looks like Glock is releasing the "new" Gen 5 19 with front serrations, no grip cutout, and non MOS. I personally don't care about the front serrations, but the non cutout frame is what I prefer.

Edited to add:
I called Glock and was directed to sales, who told me they just started shipping these on July 27th. The guy told me they still have a lot of the "old" Gen 5s in inventory that will still be shipping out for a little while.

I'm planning to buy one as soon as I can get my hands on one.

This is how the gen 5 should’ve been from the get go. I now have zero complaints about the Gen 5.

This is great news. I would have gotten this one rather than the MOS so I could have bought HDs

Well, I'm probably not going to sell my G17.5 with the cut-out, but I may buy a new one to add to the family. That with a RMR, X330U, minus connector, and SSVI trigger would make me pretty happy.

The cut out is fine in the 17, it is the 19 where it eats up my pinky

They make MOS-friendly HDs.

Thanks for the heads-up!

I still wish they undercut the trigger guard a little, but it’s not nearly the issue that it used to be without the finger grooves. Also the serrations are slippery compared to ATEis, but this is nit picky stuff and I’d say that this is now easily the best factory handgun available.

Greg, The Trijicon HD XR MOS sights are the TITS.

Interesting, are they actually listening to their customers after losing sales to Sig or are they just settling on the MOS molds because cause its cheaper.

Or the mad scientists in Austria just found out you can just extend the base plates further out and get the same function without taking a chunk out of the magwell

Or The Ameriglo Trooper set. They are the sights the CBP glocks come with, except with the orange front sight. Ameriglo sells them with the orange front now as well. If you prefer the "U" rear notch go with the HD's. If you want the Square rear notch go with the Troopers. The Ameriglo's are a tad less expensive as well.

Not sure if you guys are only talking MOS, but Brownells has u-notch Agents for Gen 5s. The Glocks I saw in the store that were equipped with Agent sights all had a square notch and I prefer u so figured I’d mention it.

The Agents are presently only available for non-MOS Gen5s (AFAIK).

The sights shipping on Glock pistols are called Bolds, which are available exclusively through Glock - the difference being that the Bolds have a square notch while the Agents have a u-notch.

Ameriglo does offer MOS-friendly versions of the Bolds called Troopers.

The Agents are supposed to be the FBI-contract sights and the Troopers are supposed to be the USBP-contract sights.

Winner! These will sell out quickly! Looks like the 17 model has the new features also. Good deal!

Yeah I talked to a couple of my LGSs about it and they said they have to move all their current Gen 5 19s before they can get these. Hopefully some of the online guys get them soon.

I'll buy the first non-cutout G19 Gen 5 I see.

I wouldn't really mind an MOS, other than it's more expensive and I don't currently plan to run an RMR anytime soon, and Agent Sights hang off the back of the slide of the MOS.

Cool, looks like “perfection” has finally been achieved. I was happy with my Gen 5 19, my only gripe was the cut out, front serrations are a nice touch but wouldn’t have been a deal breaker either way for me.

I settled for a Gen 5 G19 MOS because I didn't want to wait for the possibility of a non-optics version.. It's by far my most favorite Glock. Might have to pick up the FS model too.

I checked one out yesterday, really liked it, QC was great, I don’t own an MOS version yet, so I was trying to make up my mind which one I should get, when a transformer blew outside and out went the lights and computers!

They open again on Tuesday... Thinking I might go MOS first, then the FS.

I picked up a LNIB take off G19 Gen 5 MOS frame and mated it to my ATEI worked over G19 Gen 5 slide. Sold the G19 cut out frame.
Serial numbers don't match but I don't mind.

I ordered two of these today with the Ameriglo night sights. With Glock’s somewhat slick DLC finish, the FS serrations make it *much* easier to do a press check if one desires to. Glock also does a good job of deburring the serrations where they aren’t so sharp but still have enough bite to them. I like them. I should have mine by this Wednesday.

Not to hijack, but will a gen5 fit into a safariland thumb break owb holster that was made for a gen4? I know the gen5s are wider now with the ambi slide stop

Thumb break as in leather with the snap closure over top? If so, I don’t have one of those but my G45 fits fine in my two ALS and one GLS Safariland holster, all of which were bought before the Gen 5s were released.

ETA - my G45 has the Vickers slide stops too.

I picked up two of these Austrian made ones yesterday.
They happened to have consecutive serial #’s and they have the extractor/case slide cut. The triggers were decent out of the box, the Ameriglo sights were installed correctly, barrel lock up on both along with the slide to frame fit was tight, the barrel crowns look fine, no surprises. Also, picked up a 365 for her.

No, the newer ALS / GLS. I don’t know the safariland models. That answered my question, thank you. On a side note, Safariland has some of the most convoluted and nonsensical model naming and differentiation systems of any product I’ve even seen. Imagine if instead of a Glock 19 gen 5 mos, you had Glock G-9195002A.

What’s the extractor case slide cut?

What’s the extractor case slide cut?

On some of the new Gen5 Glocks, there's a vertical cut on the left-side of the breech-face.
The cut apparently aids in ejecting the spent brass strongly out to the right, ending any erratic ejection issues.

I don't own such a Glock (yet) and don't have a pic to post of this cut.
I've only been able to see and shoot a friend's G45MOS which has this cut.

Also, so far, it seems the Gen5 MOS models have this cut, but I've been unable to confirm which other of the new Gen5 models have or don't have this cut. My early G19gen5 and G17gen5 guns do not have this breech-face cut.

Don’t quote me on it, but I think it’s the notch that the arrow is pointing to in the below photo of my G45:

My mos has this and it does seem to have ended my biggest pet peeve with Glock 19s. I wonder what caused them to finally fix it?

I shot my (MOS) G19 Gen 5 today and while it does eject brass to the right, I noticed the last round out of the chamber was often spinning on top of the slide. None of the other rounds would do this. Odd.

I had the same problem with my original Gen 5 19. Two trips back to Smyrna and nothing changed.
