Doe anyone have any recommendation for a good quick disconnect sling attachment for a RAS rail? Is there an attachment that's not big and bulky? Thanks

Like this?

There are other companies, VTAC/Troy and IWC have comparable items.

I used the heavy duty Midwest Industries mount for Afghanistan with my RAS. Worked great, no complaints. The specific model was the MCTAR-08HD.

I've used this one from IWC for years with great success.

I second the IWC mount. I have a few on RAS and DD Mk18 rails.

I actually like that inline Gear Sector Mount for a long quad rail.

Daniel defense makes a great one. Simple. Small.

I use or have used IWC, Gear Sector and MI and would recommend them all. I'm kind surprised and little disappointed Arisaka doesn't put something out.

I've not tried but would like to check out BCM's offering. Anyone have any experience with it?

I agree with those that mentioned the IWC QD mount.

The mount sits at a 45 degree angle, which I personally prefer. It's light weight for how sturdy it is. It also uses two socket head cap screws instead of just one like many of the other QD sling mounts use. The area of the mount that clamps to the rail dovetail seems to be wider than most so it really clamps down tight, which is nice if you like to load your sling without the worry of things coming loose.

I have them on three different rifles so far, and all have been good to go.

As previously mentioned, the Gear Sector is probably a good option as well.

I've haven't tried the Thorntail version in your link, how does it differ from the original one or is it?

Thank you for the advice. Looks like there's some good options I didn't know about.

i asked about horntail mount - got this reply:

Functionally Identical. As the pics show, HSP's has the laser logo, the other our IWC logo cnc engraved.

colt had similar- decided against because of possible lateral pressure on the sight from the sling

You could potential he impart the same amount of force using a non-free floated quad rail

it may spread force over a larger area on the rail but people smarter than me would be able to confirm or not - i use free float rail anyway

You’re right. But not nearly as likely if you mount the QD mount on the aft portion of the KAC RAC near the barrel nut. The RAS has a lock-up system using the nut that makes a more solid foundation.

And the OP is asking for RAS options.

i was only referring to the sling mount on the front sight - not a problem as i see it if sling is mounted near the mag well

I prefer the Magpul or IWC for mounting on the top rail. A little more compact/flat than the gear sector, but not something noticed when using.

I’m another fan of Gear Sector. I like how it’s contoured, and it’s rock solid. I used one on my work rifle for two years:
