Well son of a gun. I just might have to get that SBR paperwork filled out and sent in afterall.

Awesome. My hope is that eventually their N4 variants will equal their stainless ones. Wouldn't that be somethin'?

I still wish John would have done the 12.5" first, but as much as I love my 16" N4 Light, I can't resist this little guy. My credit card bill is going to be rough this month...

It's only money nick. Can't take it with you and the only enjoyment you can derive from it is exchanging it for other things. It was created to get rid of... Look at it that way. :D

Not to worry, John isn't accepting orders on it anyway.

Yup. But hey, like I said, just keep suggesting to John that he puts out as many varieties of the N4 as he has of the stainless and we'll get that 12.5" and then some. :D

This is excellent news. I recall Grant saying that 10.5" N4 barrels were coming soon, and I'm glad to see Noveske expanding the N4 line. Now I just need to start saving for when Grant gets a batch! :)

If you are interested in purchasing one please let me know by PM and I will provide you with my friend's number. FYI - The price is $2195 and I believe he has 5 left after I purchased one :D Now to get a Trust written up and then the NFA wait begins...

Why not? The LMT 10.5" uppers seem to work just fine without the KX3...

Why? Just curious, I'm thinking about an SBR, maybe a 10.5 LMT or Noveske, but I've seen you make the statement about 11.5 before, just wondering why?

1. It robs the cartridge of even MORE velocity than the 11.5 already does.

2. There's that much less dwell time. So even good setups like LMT can be finicky with different ammo. and...

3. The muzzle blast is so horrendous that it's miserable when your partner is shooting the thing next to, over, or below you. People will go buy a 10.5 and then hang the flaming pig on the end of the barrel. Well shit! IMO, you'd have been better of with another inch or two of barrel.

Kjd,

Why don't you go the Trust route? Simple, painless and no need for prints or CLEO signoff. I can send you the Trust program for free if you want. I've done 3 silencers through my Trust with no problems at all. If you have any Qs, let me know and I will detail the process.

I had to have the SBR transferred from SGC to my C3 dealer in Vegas which took about a month with the paperwork. I sent my paperwork with the trust I created in approx 2 weeks ago and my check's already been cashed. Now it's just the waiting game...
In response to SGC's website you're much better off calling them as the website is not up to date. The other day they had a FN SCAR and a few other cool things in. If you'd like a good personal contact number for a great guy who works there PM me and I'll hook you up with him and he'll definitely take care of you.

I was hoping that SBR approval times are better than Silencers. I guess I was thinking of the Form 1... as I understand those get approved within weeks not months.

Hey Sonic,

I heard some stories about not creating your own trust. Then the specialty Gun Trust lawyer wanted $600.00 so I just said f*&^ it.

Kevin,

Seems that gmail doesn't like zip or exe file attachments. Do you have a secondary email, like yahoo or hotmail? If not, I will try and rename the extension to something else.

Grant,

Thanks a lot for the info. You helped me with my first Noveske Recce about a year ago. I am looking for a fully assembled Shorty as I am not too knowledgeable when it comes to AR type rifles. I am hoping that I will get lucky enough and come across a Shorty at a reasonable price. There are some 8.5" LWRC SBRs($2700  ) on gunbroker.com however in order to be able to use my AAC silencer a minimum barrel lenght of 10.5" is recommended.

Once again, thanks for your input.

Kevin,

No problem and I have a question for all members:

If you guys don't mind, can you elaborate on what does it take to build an SBR? I have a 16" Noveske N4 Light Recce that I shoot with an AAC M4-2k silencer. It's a very nice piece of weaponry, however the silencer adds about 4 inches to the barrel and I'd really like to shorten it. Knowing that I have the 16" N4 allready, how can it be turned into an SBR? Lets say I have a complete 10.5" Shorty upper. Let's say I do my Form 1, do I need to be a gunsmith and licensed to put an SBR upper to my existing Noveske lower ? How hard is it?

I am sorry if my question is too long and please I invite everyone to add their input to my dilemma

If you have the Form 1 already and have the complete 10.5" upper, all you have to do is put it on the registered SBR lower.

If you want to turn your 16" N4 into an SBR and if you have your Form 1, all you have to do is change the barrel out to the desired short barrel. The tools to take off the barrel and to put on a new one can be found in the link below.

Erik,

Thanks for being the first adviser hehehe. It sounds very easy from your description. So, let me see if I understood:

My existing 16" N4 lower doesn't have to be SBR registered, I need to find a complete 10.5" upper, buy it through an ATF Form 4 and using the tools in your URL dismantle the weapon and add the new 10.5" upper through an ATF Form 1.

Did I get it right?? :)

Lev

ginarik

The only thing that's registered for being an SBR is the lower receiver. Once you have the form 1 approved from the NFA you can build an upper receiver with the shorter barrel or buy a completed upper and put it on the registered SBR lower.

I used the link below for a guide on filling out the form 1.

I hope everyone got the file and was able to rename. The program will update itself therefore I would opt for that option after running it. There are many choices and legal documents that you can create. For the NFA weapons you need to create a Revocable Living Trust. Have some names ready: wife, kids, best friends who you can trust with your LIFE !!! You will need them as beneficiaries, executors, trustees etc etc... Any questions on this matter, just send me a PM. If you are not sure how to word Schedule A or the Assignment of Property, just use this universal description:

"Those firearms, as defined by Title 26 U.S. Code, Chapter 53, §5845, which have been lawfully transferred to or created by this trust in accordance with the National Firearms Act."

That's it :)
