Agree.
This version, the LE version, is better because the magazine pouches are in the outside pocket instead of in the rifle pocket. I have the older version and would prefer that the pockets were not in with the gun.
I have the Blackhawk Discrete case, which is similar to the Eagle, but whose magazine compartment is lined with Velcro so you can set up magazine and other types of pouches in there for whatever arrangement works best for you.

Same. I like it, very modular. If you want really discreet go to a music store and get a Yamaha patch. It'll look like you're carrying a keyboard.

Here's my current "Stealth Case". Who would steal a pink Tennis Racket Case that had the pink ribbon and the word "Hope" on its side? :D

Anyone have the LaRue Tactical Discreet Soft Case? Just saw it on their website. Likes pretty nice.

Carlos, for those of us that can't own SBR's, softball bags work great.

LOL, my good buddy is a DELL dealer. He runs his own IT company and he came to my house, saw the bag, and asked where the heck i got a DELL bag like that.:D

I have the Eagle LE, but was looking at the Blackhawk at the store yesterday. The Blackhawk is nice, and it gives more options for arranging accessories if that's what's needed. Either or.

I use a softball bat bag as well - bright yellow and black with big white logos. Either and SBR or a standard stocked AK along with a chest rig fits inside. I took an IPSC target and cut it to fit so as not to collapse around the contents. My other is a large tool box - I just split upper and lower. Guitar bags or even modded golf bags are also good - esp for bolt guns.
I think the "discrete" gun bags aren't. The shape and color give looky lews cause for pause. Exterior mag pouches or MOLLE.... may a well be a Pelican; at least then it would protect the weapon.
Good luck

i snagged a baggage claim sticker (you know the ones that the airline ticket personnel attach to your luggage when you check in) and put it around the handle of the DELL bag. now it even looks like it went through an airport.

I don't know if I ever got any pics, but I got one of them big rectangular hard guitar cases, fabric covered. That thing held my rifle, cleaning kit, magazines. Pretty much everything and nobody ever batted an eye.

Ditto..Agreed...Yep a doodle doo...:D
BTW I own one too
I have an i-Shot SERT TCC and it is built like a tank. Unfortunately, they are scarce.
I also own a Blackhawk discreet case. While not built to the same quality as the i-Shot, the Blackhawk is also less than half the price and quite serviceable.
This one is great. Have 5 outside pockets for mags plus 1 big pocket for accesories, a padded sling, handle, very well made and padded all over... I like it very much.http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh125/josey88/004-5.jpghttp://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh125/josey88/003-5.jpghttp://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh125/josey88/002-5.jpg

I don't understand why the manufacturers can't make the discreet cases in a color that's somewhat discreet like blue or something. Gray perhaps. Gabe Suarez has some interesting cases/backpacks that look like skateboard bags. No storage for mags and such but I think he's on the right track.

Eagle will do bags in all sorts of colors as limited runs. Before the economy went to hell I was talking with them about getting a run of red or blue LE versions of their discrete bags and then trying to sell off all the excess, just to get one more for myself. Can't take the financial risk now though.

Actually, now that I remember it, CavArms has some nice discreet bags (http://www.cavalryarms.com/DRB.html). They also need our support during their battle against the BATFE.
Actually, I forgot about the "discreet " thing . My bag is really great, but it is as far from discreet as possible... Sorry !!!

Rob, if you do pull together a group order, let me know. I remember that thread, and think it's an excellent idea. I'll be happy to prepay for one if you get the required numbers.
Thanks.

I'm in for a 30" Eagle. I want purple with faux leopard skin trim.
Speaking of Eagle discreet cases, what size rifle will fit in their M4/CAR15 case (DC-CAR-15)? According to Eagle, the case measures 32", which seems short to me for a 16" rifle. Their LE version of the discreet case is 34" according to the website.

I use the DC-CAR-15 cases. They are long enough for a 16" carbine with standard A2 flash hider and carbine stock (fully collapsed). If you have a longer bodied buttstock, longer flash hider, or combination of the two, it may not fit.
My 16" guns with A2 hiders and CTR stocks fit.
Case dims approximate, as well.

Does anyone have experience with this discreet bag from Castle Rock Tactical?
http://castlerocktactical.com/crt_dc16.htm
I searched here, on 10-8, and TOS, and only got one hit. No one posted any long-term evals.
Sadly, faux leopard trim is out of stock at this time. ;)
I got a 31" "UTG" (Leapers) "Homeland Security" case. It fits my 14.5" AR with the stock collapsed perfectly.
It was $22 or so, and it's well designed and well put together. I'd buy another in a heartbeat.
It's not very discreet, though it's marketed that way (it just looks like a big black rectangle).

My blue case is the same model. When I added a Vltor Emod and flash hider to my 16" gun it *almost* didn't fit. I can still fit it diagonal, and I only open one end and then just jam the rifle in there muzzle first.
Do anybody have any experience with a 35" Blackhawk holding a 6920? I know that the 6920 is under 30" fully collapsed, but this is the smallest size that Midway sells.
With my birthday discount, the bag comes to $89.24 w/o shipping. On the Blackhawk website they are selling the 32" for $131.99 w/o shipping and 35" for $138.99. Does anyone recommend that I just go ahead and buy from Midway and disregard the extra 3"?
I've fit a 16" RRA Entry Tactical into the 35" Blackhawk bag with no problem. I think your 6920 is roughly the same dimensions.

The 6920 will fit in the 35" Blackhawk.
Do note, though, that MSRP on the Eagle Industries DC-CAR-15 is only $116.24.

And they can be found for less. $94.95/$99.95 at Triad Tactical:

Sometime ago I found (on the net) a VERY DISCRETE carrying case made from a standard workman's toolbox. it was made with something like this "Tradesman Hand Held Tool Box-24 Inch" and It fit a M4 SBR broken down.

I looked for it but i couldn't find it to post here!

i bought a utg bag with 2 compartments and backpack straps
one for holding 2 rifles and one for holding a pistol, mags and other items but the rifle compartment is a little too small for my rifle and shotgun
2 rifles might fit in there but my 870 makes it a tight fit with the AR (plus it weighs a ton loaded up)
it does seem like its a tough bag though
i have been kicking around making my own
there's a gentleman who comes to my range with his SBR'd LMT in a tennis racket bag. :D
don't forget about guitar bags and cases. helps if you actually play guitar to lower suspicion levels. :D
Regardless of the type case you carry, consider your overall appearance for best effect when traveling. For years I've been using a well used, "distressed", hard shell guitar case with music decals on it. Dressed down in jeans, T-shirt, sport jacket & sneakers the look is that of an old rocker or jazz player. Since I play a Strat it's easy to respond to small talk. Some cases can be a 'tell' depending on your build, clothing & vehicle. I know one person that carries a folding stocked SBR in a viola case. But, one look & it's very obvious he's not playing in an orchestra. Sports cases work to best effect with appropriate clothing, etc.

Seeing these posts about the guitar cases reminds me of the movie "Desperado" with Antonio Banderas, remember that one? Talk about the ultimate guitar case!
Thanks for all the responses. I went ahead and bought the 35" Blackhawk from Midway. I will let everyone know how it is when I receive it.

X2. I also have the i-Shot CERT, and have had no problems. Built well, and came with a seperate 3 magazine pouch that's also built well.
I wanted to purchase the I-Shot, but I could not find one to purchase. Hopefully, I will enjoy the Blackhawk
Has anyone used Brownell's M4 case? It isn't terribly discreet, but doesn't look like a traditional rifle case. Might even pass for a tennis racket case ... with MOLLE attachments.

I don't know if this is discreet enough for you but LA Police Gear has 511 Tactical's 50" cases on clearance. In black it's not going to grab too much attention. Regular $129 on sale for $65 (http://www.lapolicegear.com/511-tactical-50-gun-case-rifle.html) or 4 for $199 (http://www.lapolicegear.com/5ta50guncarc.html).

Thanks for all the replies. I ended going with a LaRue tactical discreet soft case. I got it UPS the other day and it is a good fit for my AR. Very well made and has separate sides for rifle and magazines. $109 from their website.

acecase.com makes decent cases, most are not discreet but they do have some that are rectangle that you could screen the dell logo on as others have done, with all storage inside....

I'm guessing by discreet we just mean that no one knows it a rifle? Cuz if I was a thief guitars and DELL anything are something I could move quickly...
I think once I have a spare AR or so I'd probably go with a guitar case since most everyone I know knows that I dabble with a strat... of course most of the people I know also know that I carry and love guns, so I guess it really doesn't matter...

So far, all of my transport cases have been converted from other more 'mundane' types.
My PS-90 case was a red tennis racket case I found at a close-out sale -
One of my AR cases is a pretty blue Lowe's toolbox -
Another is an El Cheapo baseball/softball bag I got from Dick's.
Using the padding from a GI sleeping pad gives good protection and the softened shape gives less visual signature than rectangular closed-cell padding that's been hollowed out.
