Is anybody buying the $2300 outsourced "Colt" M16A1 reproduction?

They "outsourced" to a very good company but way overpriced when you can get a Brownell's for less than 1K.

I do not care to buy one of them as I prefer to build my own. :)

You need to stop posting pictures of your collection. Every time you do that I start drooling and stuttering and my wife thinks I am having a seizure.

I think it is a great rifle. Comparing it with an SP1 that I have I actually consider it a better rifle as far as fit and finish are considered.

I have some detailed photos and comments on my website here: https://thecoltar15resource.com/colt-m16a1-reissue-crm16a1/

Let me know if you have any additional questions.

I looked at the website. Very cool.

And I agree about the handguards. My Brownell M16A1 has handguards that look identical to a pair of new in wrap SP1 ones I have, from the outside, but appear to be made of better less brittle stuff. I was going to replace the Brownell ones with the NOS Colt ones, but now I'm not going to bother.

Seems as though both rifles go a very long way to replicate the original. So cool.

I really wish they were a bit cheaper. I would buy one without thought at $1500. I bought the Colt XM177E2 and I love it. I wish I could get the M16A1, but I can't justify it.

I have one M16A1 rerun and the XM177E2 rerun.

They are, by far, the best reproductions. Its worth buying for a clone project just for the lower as it is the only clone you will ever have that actually uses the original roll marking dies and looks factory.

I took both of mine and rebuilt them using an original new 1967 M16A1 upper and took the XM177E2 and rebuilt it with original new XM177E2 parts I had in my collection.

Very nice early collection...I got off topic drooling. My dealer has had the colt a1 remake on his shelf for a while now it’s just not the same as an early sp1

Thank you. The Colt M16A1 Reissue is based on the early 1967-1970 M16A1. That is the reason they provide the 3-prong and A1 FHs. The SP1 (originally released in 1963)is based on the Model 602 as the XM16E1 and M16A1 did not exist at the time. The XM16E1 did not come about until early 1964 and the M16A1 in Feb. 1967.
