View Full Version : Got my Hi Power back from Action Works
I finally got it back, and it looks awesome.
I’m not a photographer so I don’t do it justice.
I had Don Williams do a nice trigger with the reduced reset package, Garthwaite trigger sear and hammer, stipple the front and rear grip straps, Heinie sights, Roguard slide and NP3 frame, extended safety, and some stuff I’m forgetting.

In the custom Privateer Leather holster they made for it.

Awesome! I am a big Hi Power fan as my Yost Hi Power was a carry gun for sometime
Beautifully done piece!! I love two-tone pistols. It's great seeing nicely executed steel.
That is a beautiful Hi-Power!

Sweet, and just in time - can't get those finishes anymore.
Personally think the Hi Power is one of the nicest guns ever made and you have a great one.
GORGEOUS, BEAUTIMUS, Work of Metal Art.

Don did mine, he's the Hi Power whisperer
U crushed that shit. Well done. Still don’t own one, I’ve wanted a NH build but they quit making them and prices are rediculous. Congrats.

That is nice! What is the straighter trigger like?

I sure like it (dry firing). I hope to shoot it Saturday.

Very nice. Love the BHP.
BHP has a great feel to it and it is a true classic. Owned a few, but something else was calling me more.............some regrets because those replacements are gone too.
Don Williams is one of a handful that does the BHP justice.

Me too. I had a BHP back in the mid 80's with adjustable sights. I was finally able to carry it on duty so I sent it to Bill at Cylinder and Slide shop for thumb safety, hammer and action job by removing the mag safety. It shot like a house on fire and fed Federal 9BP ammo easily.
Then the changes of carrying a condition 1 pistol were scorned by admins. Sold it to a LEO that could still carry them at another agency.
Like always, I carry bruises on my backside from kicking myself after the fact. The S&W Gen 3 5906 was not nearly as nice as the BHP, Crunch click.
Nice HP. What are the grips sir?

Not the OP but I think they’re VZ Grips.

Excellent P35.
It will, no doubt, be a shooter.
Don is one of the top three or four BHP smiths in my book.
His short reset mod is really nice- not unusual for a 1911 shooter to short stroke an OEM trigger.
And I love the proper two tone, which is; blued slide/HC frame.
There was actually a legit reason for this back in the day. The slide rarely, if ever, rusted from contact with a sweaty hand- and they were usually wiped off after a range session.
The frame was prone to corrosion due to direct contact with the shooters hand however.
A couple of mine are two tone guns.
Im joining the BHP family next week, pretty excited.

I can tell you through experience that his customer service is above reproach.

Those are VZ grips.

+1 What a kick in the balls.

That shit is way wrong, don't even say the K word. If it resembles a Kimber, its going back for repairs.

Timeless beauty. I often wonder what life would be like if these had gotten the respect they deserved back in the day.

They did with all the Free World except the US, which embraced the 1911- and that wasn’t a bad thing.
A hi power is one pistol that sadly I’ve never owned..seeing pics here, and on other forums just might motivate me to start looking for one. I figure they’re like 1911’s, everybody should have at least one...
OUTSTANDING! Looks like a top notch job!
That is very nice. The one I have is much plainer. Mine does have a severely bobbed hammer when at rest in the slide is unseen from the side profile.
Too much hammer bite for me so I bobbed it. Also fit a new safety as the old one broke and it needed a new sear so I fit that too. No idea how to post pictures.
Great looking pistol. I really like the Hi Power Practicals. Don does great work on sights and setting up a gun. Good choice on the holster too. Did Don supply it or did you order directly from Wes?

I ordered the holster
Again, that's a really nice gun you have. This is one of Don's guns in one of Wes' holsters. He made a cross draw for me. Both of them are really nice guys who do great work.
