Beretta has established "special pricing" on this gun, apparently to stimulate sales. The standard black full-size APX is $329 and the FDE full-size is $339, although I don't know if all retailers are offering these prices (Bud's is one that is).

By all accounts it's not a bad gun (although it seems to function most reliably with stronger loads). I take it that it just got lost in the sea of polymer guns currently swamping the market?

That's what I am thinking

I have not heard anything bad at all, but nothing that makes it stand out from welll established options like Glock/ M&P/VP9/PPQ and others. Lots of solid options for poly 9mm guns

Kinda like the FN509.. solid guns just not catching on

The price might convince me to grab one though

I bought an APX Centurion off Gunbroker a couple of weeks ago for $299.99. It came with 10 round mags, and I think that drove the price down on the one I bought. (I was the only one to bid on it.) All of my other striker-fired pistols are Glocks, so I bought this one more out of curiosity than for any other reason. I generally like the pistol (only 300 rounds through it so far though). It feels very tightly sprung to me, which is puzzling given how chunky the slide is. If you need a striker-fired pistol it's worth considering. JMCK makes holsters for it and Trijicon makes HD sights for it.

It is a slightly above average modern Gen striker fired pistol awash in a sea of classic, intermediate, and modern striker fired pistols. They had a few decades to get it together -
And should have realized the only thing that would make another contender in the striker fired octagon stand out would be mag compatibility with an existing platform and ergonomics and trigger and accuracy that stood hard and shoulders above the competition.

They did not do this.

They came out with a gun guaranteeing little interest Ed in the US market, with expected low popularity, little aftermarket, little reliable or inexpensive or long term factory after market, and fire sale pricing at some point.

Think-
Cougar, 90-Two, 9000s, and PX4.
And also a few shotgun models.
And a pistol caliber Carbine model.
And a Carbine That never made it to market under the Beretta name.
Plus a Carbine That also met fire sale fate.

It's an excellent gun, but yes your right.

It forces my hand into a position, but it feels right. The slide and gun are bulky like a PX4. I dont know why, either. The trigger face is a bit wide, and I could really feel the blade, I didn't care for that. The trigger is nicely crisp, but a little heavier than most. (7lbs?) Reset was strong, short, crisp.

It's a duty gun for a duty holster with a quality not-too-light dept.-style trigger weight. Reliable and accurate.

The takedown pin (on the RH side) kept burning my trigger finger tip when placed above the trigger. I usually put my finger up the ejection port nowadays.

I dont own an APX I've just put a couple hundred rounds through one.

I bought the regular model on day of release and also have a compact. It is not a bad gun. It is an above average striker fired gun with below average expected factory support and aftermarket.

Objectively, there are no significant advantages - but a lot of cons.

There are already Autozones, Advance Auto, NAPA, PEP boys, and O’Reillys car parts stores in town.
If you are going to open a Beretta car parts store in town, with nothing to distinguish it from the others and without the best parts and the best prices, why bother?

The FN pistols also came to my mind.

IMO, it's lack of marketing and getting test pistols into the right hands.

I have handled and shot a Beretta APX and was very impressed with it. That said, I was already invested in the M&P platform and decided to buy the equally good M&P 2.0 compact.

A buddy is looking at a Beretta APX, that price is pretty hard to beat.

Anyone know what holsters availability is like?

I had a couple of them a couple years ago. I liked the smaller grip circumference option. Did a high volume class at Double Tap with good results. Not overjoyed with the trigger reset speed or the large bulky serrated slide. Accuracy seemed average. The major selling point for me was that my wife could adequately reach the trigger. I traded them off towards something else new and shiny.

I got 2 APX holsters from Dale.

I frequently take new shooters (nurses) with small hands. They all love my VP9SK until they see the price.

I picked up a compact for $329 based on what you said, as 99% hated the G19 sized grip for to width.

Hopefully it will not suck. [emoji16]

I liked mine, has the Beretta 6 o’clock hold though, which takes a bit to get used to.

I bought a 2 of them at $250 each brand new. a 40 and 9mm. They are seriously under rated pistols. Very accurate and has a nice trigger. Been putting the rounds thru them pretty good. No problems yet. Had to find holsters and that is my only complaint about them.

Mine came in today (compact model). I put 150 rounds of Geko 115g, 100 rounds of AE 147g and 50 rounds of HST 147g through it.

I'm impressed. It had zero malfunctions. The trigger is nice, I'd even say great for a duty/carry pistol. The felt recoil was very mild, and shooting side by side with my M&P 2.0 4" compact, the impulse was very similar.

The size is amazing for my hands. The large backstrap = awesome feel. The checkering is aggressive enough to allow fast shooting without the gun jumping around in your grip, .

The only negative for me so far was the sights. I blacked out the rear before shooting it though, and plan on installing night sights.

I'm really excited to get a Centurion frame for it.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200627/f079272bc238addb554606614ca1b323.jpg

Cool.

I have a Centurion APX as well. At first, my aim was off because of the larger front dot. But after I put electrical tape over the rear dots, the gun shot very accurate.

I now have Ameriglo sights on the APX, and the gun is VERY accurate.

I sent my slide to Beretta. Ya gotta call them and ask for that service. They then set something up in their computer...

I had heard that Beretta was installing them for people for free. Unfortunately, you have to buy the sights from Beretta USA - then mail your slide and the sights BACK to Beretta. I was told that they may or may not charge me by the phone rep. He stated that IF they DID charge me, they would call me and ask for a credit card #. But, I got the slide back and there was no charge.

It's been almost a year (so, I cannot remember for sure) - but, I think they had it about 4 weeks.

Realize that they are backed up at Beretta USA right now. They have been totally shut down. And this past week, they claim their service dept is now open 3 days a week. And, they are accepting stuff again. But due to the backup, I would imagine it would take at least 2x as long.

Very accurate and has a nice trigger.

and the gun is VERY accurate.
This is very interesting. I bought a 9mm compact and installed a centurion frame. The pistol is 100% reliable, feels good, I like the sights and appears to be very well made. Unfortunately, the trigger on mine is bad and the accuracy is horrible. It's like it's shooting knuckleballs. Reliability is obviously most important for a carry gun, but I wouldn't carry it simply because of how inaccurate mine is. It's also a little wide.

Have you tried changing backstraps? Mine shot to teh left until I put the large backstrap on it. Then, it shot perfectly.

I also had a hard time shooting the gun accurately with the factory sights, until I blacked out the rer dots with electrical tape - prior to getting the Ameriglo sights. The front dot is bigger than the rear dots, and that was throwing me off.

Sorry to hear about the trigger, though

Well, I blacked out the front and rear sight and am pleased with the accuracy.

I liked it enough to buy a Centurion frame and magazines.

After about 750 rounds and no malfunctions with everything from steel cased 115g wolf to my HST 124g+P carry ammo, the trigger has gotten better, kinda like a Glock, but starting out from a better place.

Overall, it's a lot of gun for $330 bucks.

I'm seriously considering the Target model that's RMR ready based upon my experience with the compact/centurion model.

If swapping sights at home with a pusher was easy, I'd consider jumping in completely, but, alas, to no avail.....
