Yall remember some time ago..maybe a year, year & a half...I distinctly remember reading/hearing about the military considering going to 9mm Gold Dot ammo for all issue handguns.
Whatever happened to that..is it still be considered or the idea dropped?

I never heard that but I know that Winchester won the ammo contract for the new Sig which included a hollow point round.

Looks like a 147gr based on the T series.

I still have yet to figure out why someone in positions of high places hasn't asked the stupid question of "Why are we still abiding by a treaty we never signed to begin with and was only based on the British objections to rounds they didn't like?"

Or why we continue to have mouthbreathers in positions of authority making decisions like the article 26 posted like this:

https://www.military.com/daily-news/2015/07/17/us-army-wants-hollow-point-ammo-for-new-pistol-not-for-the-m9.html

Walker said it was not his decision, but added that he didn't think the Beretta M9 "is optimized to shoot any of those types of rounds. It's optimized to shoot the M882," the U.S. military's standard full-metal jacket 9mm round, he said.

"Any other round you fire through it, there are system-level effects that can affect a whole series of issues" such as "reliability and how many rounds between having a malfunction."

Considering I carried the M-9 with a standard HP load while on LEO duties in garrison for well over a decade (and I'd assume they still do), this statement is pure stupidity.

Too many idiots in the military make decisions on small arms that haven't the first damn clue what they are talking about.
