View Full Version : Vltor vs. Vtac Offset Light Mount
Is there a noticeable difference in weight between these two mounts? I know one is made out of plastic one is made out of metal. I like the Vltor but concerned that it might add quite a bit more weight to the front end. Has anybody scaled these yet???:D

I got a VTAC mount with something I got - I got a VLTOR mount with my CSM Gear Helmet side rail --- the VLtOR mount is still used, while the VTAC cracked.
I would rather an extra oz and a mount that survives...

While I don't own a VTAC, I do have a VLTOR and it is top notch. All steel construction, but the thing I like about the VLTOR is that it is low profile. The light hardly sticks out off the side of the rail. I'm glad I got it!

I have and use 4 of the VTAC mounts. I like them quite a bit. I usually mount a G2L on the top rail with the light cantilevered out to the 10:30 position. It is lightweight and has proven to be very durable. I also like that is holds the light in closer to the handguard than most mounts for a lower profile.
I have seen the Vltor but never used one and I certainly wouldn't fault you for going that way. It is a great mount that also holds the light in close.

Is the Vltor angle adjustable to bring it in close to the handguard? I tried the Daniel Defense and it threw the light out too far it seemed constantly in the way.

The VLTOR tucks the light in very close the the rail at 11 o'clock.

VLTOR 2.2 oz (in bag)
VTAC 1.1 oz

I run the Vtac, but the the fact that you don't need a hand tool to remove the Vltor is an additional value in my opinion.
