153 yards lazed with the Leica using a 1.5x5 on 5 power, held just above the sholder, bang flop...

Try this with a big bore, its fun and a bit of a challenge...

Apparently over on calguns.net there are guys working up loads, I dont reload so I am unaware, a user who I think posts here, MudBug has helped post most of the reloadin info from what I have gathered. Might ask him.

Excellent shooting.

Eat right up to the bullet hole, just like Elmer said. Eat more bobcat!;)

Got it deer hunting?

Once deer season cools off I'm going to try calling in some bobs and zapping them with Xtrema2 & Dead Coyote loads and/or LT SSS upper with Leupold 1.5-5X.

Using latter this afternoon. Hoping to get a photo for the local sports page showing deer taken with evil black & stainless rifle. Piss of the liberal management there. Wish I had a CMag for a prop.

I already took a 8 point swamp buck with the 450 Bush and some hogs, its my second fav big bore. 458 SOCOM tops all In MY mind.

Bit OT but what do you like more about the 458 than the 450?

458 SOCOM uses unmodified (in any way) USGI AR mags

450 Bush has some ss 5 round mag it come swith

458 SOCOM has a much wider range of reloading data, bullet selection and offerings with respect to ammo

450 Bush is only in its infancy with respect to reloading data and ammo offerings, this can change, time will tell

458 SOCOM has been around longer and has established it self in the community as a constant performer.

450 Bush is on its way, again time will tell.

458 SOCOM was designed by, IMO one of the better minds in firearms design.

450 Bush was based of the OLD 45 Professional, and the owner has some questionable past practices, but with Bushmaster and Hornady taking it up, that should all be gone at this point, anyway.

Just my reasons why, everyone else may differ but you asked me so, there you have it :)

Cold, Thank you for your reply.

I didn't know much about either caliber. I saw the tax time sale Bushmaster had and said "what the hell!"

What it did give me was a legal setup to hunt with in my state. I felt it was duty after the Zumbo thing to promote the AR as a sporting weapon, not just a bullet hose.

I haven't shot the 458. But I like my 450 pretty good.

Thinking about getting a 6.5 next.

also would like to hunt with an AR. Right now I am using a 44mag for deer and the 300 grain Hornady XTP does an excellent job. Have a 5.56, but from what i hear the 55 to 77 grain cartridges leave much to be desired on whitetails.

Nice shot! Congratulations, at what range did you have the Thumper zeroed? Did it drop about 4-5 inches at 150 yards?

Are bobcats a pest in your area?

Generally, killing top predators is bad for the ecosystem.
