View Full Version : In what configuration are new M4A1 carbines delivered to the U.S. military?
Still with detachable carry handle or Matech BUIS? Oval plastic handguards or Knight's RAS? The "waffle" M4 stock?
The brand new ones I’ve seen recently from FN: BUIS (Can’t remember fo sure, but I think Matech), KAC RAS, waffle.
I feel like we did this not even a year ago?

KAC VFG too I believe. Almost positive the rear is Magtech, haven't seen a carry handle in quite some time.

Just got a new Colt last month. It comes as follows:. P&S rail, ribbed rail panels, Matech rear sight, broom handle vertical grip, front side sling swivel, waffle stock, and full auto trigger pack.
Knew P&S made the stock; didn't know they were making the rail.
front side sling swivel
The important stuff.
The important stuff.
Into the town of aqua Fria rode GTF425 with a sling swivel on his hip.

Bwahahaha!

Likely spelled out in the PWS / TDP as a requirement.
It's more of a .MIL issue than anything else.

We just got 350 brand-new FN M4A1s, same configuration. SOCOM barrel profile.
Damn things HAMMER out to 300 yards with M855A1 and ACOGs.
May I ask what ACOG? Thank you.

TA-01B with the 7.62 reticle -- crosshairs, not the chevron.
Three kids on the combat shooting team are using the TA-01B, two others the issued TA-31F. All other guns use the BUIS.
They all come with the bottom mount sling swivel. :D

What ammo do they use with those ACOGs?
M855A1. The steel-tip stuff.

Yeah it shoots pretty well, especially with a new M4.

Any particular reason they're using a 7.62 reticle with M855A1, or is it the optic that was on hand?
The carbine and M855A1 seem to match the 7.62 trajectory to 500 yards. The TA-31F is close, but has the chevron instead of the crosshairs at 100 and 200. We're going for points and precision rather than just a hit anywhere on the E-type.
The X, 5, and 4 rings get pretty small past 300 yards:
