Sorry if this is common knowledge.
I tried searching and didn’t come up with anything.
I have a receiver extension that may be A5 length, but was hoping one of you folks might be able to check an A5 for me.
This is the POF “308 only” tube.
Looks to be 7.75”.

my vltor RE10 measures at 7 3/4 inches - POF says they haven’t tested it but they’ve had reports that it works fine.

I’m not sure if anybody cares, but the POF tube seems to work fine. Locks back no problem. Using a 10” SIG 516 upper.
Nice A5 alternative for anybody running a piston upper.

LMT's .308 receiver extension measures about 7 5/8" versus the 7 3/4" of most A5 compatible tubes. Haven't fired it yet but may swap it with a VLTOR A5SR for peace of mind.

The 7 ⅝" may work better. In a 308 AR, the plastic nose of the buffer often compresses more than it does in an AR15 and the gas key can hit the back of the receiver.

Couldn't figure out why it's shorter but that makes a lot of sense, thanks for the insight.

Nick at VLTOR advised using the full ~7.75" tubes for 5.56 guns so I'll be swapping it out.

Are you having problems with the 7 5/8" RE?

Thanks for the data point. A few of people on this forum said that LMT 308 tube is the same size. Apparently not the case. I almost bought one a few months back to try out, but it was out of stock and I went with BCM A5 tube (since I had one already I knew what to expect).

Thank you for providing this measurement!

it’s interesting to note that Operation Parts answers a question on the LMT 259C by stating that the LMT TUBE IS THE SAME LENGTH AS THE A5 TUBE.
i wonder if a correction is in order?
