A federal appeals court on Wednesday handed a major win to the Trump administration in its fight against “sanctuary” jurisdictions, ruling that it can deny grant money to states that refuse to cooperate with federal immigration authorities.

Glad to see this. Why should an anti-ICE city government think they should be allowed fed money? And what kind of judge with integrity would deny a POTUS to do his job?

Of course, we should also recognize that this enables the Feds to fight 2A Sanctuaries the same way.

It's a little different. That is State vs City/County. No federal laws in there.

Not that money couldn't be denied from State to County to begin with.

For the moment, but whenever the political winds change direction, and Leftists end up in charge in Washington the Feds will definitely get involved. They've already shown a willingness to ignore State and local decisions before, and enforce whatever gun laws they care to. This gives them direct punitive actions to take against states or lower-level governments to force them to play ball.

The appeals court was entirely logical and reasonable in their decision. It made perfect sense.

Yep. This is my concern. This is a huge win for statists and will be used against conservatives if the Ds are in control.

Decent chance that 2nd Amendment sanctuaries are the real inspiration for, and target of, the ruling.

Already happened with Virginia sheriffs.

Same thing happened when they forced states to raise the drinking age to 21. Those that wouldn’t do it would get their federal highway dollars suspended. Feds do it with education money, too.
