View Full Version : FN-15 carbine question
In reference to this carbine, does "heavy barrel" mean the typical M4A1 SOCOM contour or a heavier profile?

Usually, with an M4 type barrel, that indicates a SOCOM profiled barrel, but the barrel FN uses on this FN-15 may just be heavier profile without the M203 cut-out like the SOCOM profile has. One can always call FN to find out once and for all.
Sounds good. My handguard-fu is weak, but this carbine is advertised with single heat shield handguards. I'm guessing that FN military M4A1's have double heat shield handguards (or not?)

Not all Colt SOCOM barrels have the 203 cut under the handguard.
