Very nice. These run close to the same price as 16 in. LMT complete rifles? If I had not already started on a BCM build, this would be more than tempting!

OK, the $64 question...How much? LE only or can mere mortals own them too?

Grant,
How does this work? Pay for gun and then get the serial number to put on Form 1; then wait until tax stamp is assigned. OR, pay for it it is already registered and it ships out???
Thanks in advance.

Anyone can own them and they are NOT marked LE and you also do NOT have to engrave the lower receiver!

Price is $1300 + shipping. You of course have to pay the $200 tax stamp.

Ok, can someone give me a rundown on how the Form 4 works? Does that mean you need local law enforcement (Sherriff) to sign off on the papers before this LMT SBR is purchased???
I was under the impression you could get local Sherriff to sign off on an SBR or Suppressor (or any other NFA item),
OR-
you can do a Trust.
I have always planned on the trust, to avoid Sherriffs who don't know the law, and refuse to sign off, AND also because I've got local buddies who know all about the Trust, and could help me set one up quite easily.
Thanks.

Iraqgunz

Paul,

I believe that you can purchase NFA items all day long. But, in order for the transfer to take place you must complete the paperwork with the dealer and then send everything to BATFE. He will give you said items when then tax stamp is received.

If you can (and there is no reason you can't) I would definitely go the Trust route and save yourself the headache.

do you have to wait for the tax stamp approval?

rob_s
11-22-08, 20:57
do you have to wait for the tax stamp approval?

Yes, in order to take possession.

Steps:
1) Pay Grant
2) Have local dealer transfer from Grant (requires ATF form approval)
3) Grant ships to local dealer
4) Have local dealer transfer to you (requires ATF form approval)
5) Pick up from local dealer and pay him his transfer fee

Jack, call Bob on Monday and he can do this for you. I think his fee is $50, or at least it used to be.

so this is a fairly quick process ?
form 4 seems the way to go, is it less paper work than form 1 ?

Iraqgunz
11-23-08, 08:18
I may be wrong and if I am some one will knock me down. The Form 1 is if you are manufacturing and registering the item. In this case the weapon has already been manufactured and registered and it is now considered a Form 4 (Transfer). What will assist in speeding up the process is going the way of the Trust via the traditional route.

No, not quick at all, and certainly not quick right now.

The dealer to dealer transfer used to be complete in a matter of weeks, with the dealer to buyer transfer taking 1-3 months. Who knows right now though.

Quick question for those that may know.

I know I have read on here somewhere that a 10.5 barrel is not the best for running a suppressor, and that an 11.5 barrel is better. If I am going to be running a suppressor, do I need to pass on this or would this run ok?

Sorry for the hijack.
