What sling are you using on your precision rifle? Standard leather sling or something else?

I've recently picked up the Slip-Cuff from Tactical Invervention Specialists. However, I've not had much time to work with it.

I also use the TIS Sling, but I have the version without the sling cuff. Its a nice sling.
The USMC leather version and the version that's been coated for NBC purposes is nice but it needs to be taped up otherwise the little hooks come out and it falls apart.

I believe (I could be wrong), Turner Saddlery Slings are the USMC (I wasn't in the Army) issue. I'm not saying TIS slings are not used in the Military via COTS purchase, I just cant' find an NSN on them:confused:

I have the Turner Saddlery Biothane sling and it is a good sling for High Power shooting.

I am pretty Certain that T.I.S. is not a COTS purchase, but has a contracts with both Marine Corp. and Army for M40, M24, S.R. 25, M16A4, etc. Basically, if it comes issued with a scope on it, then it should come with a T.I.S. sling on it. For use by snipers, or D.M..

Using the T.I.S. quick cuff sling on my AR10, excellent sling and i plan to grab a few more for other rifles in the near future.

If you like leather check out the "Quick set" rifle sling from Murrays custom leather, still rocking it on my boltgun. Looks just like an old .mil leather sling but uses sliding metal buckles intead of the hooks. Will throw up a pic in the AM for you guys.

I figured I would make this post so all could know whats what with my slings. Also if you guys wnat slings contact me directly and I will give you a member discount. If the website needs slings for prizes or what ever just contact me and I will help out.

I am the AH who designed the products and runs the small company that makes/sells all the TIS items.

Quick Cuff. There are a couple of differnet models but only difference being swivel set ups. All Quick Cuffs come with one Detachable Tactical Arm Cuff, but spares can be purchased seperately.

Model One is original and has the basic QD swivels for Remington type QD studs. You can take the swivels off and use on any rifle that will take 1.25" wide slings (Mine are 1.45" wide but designed to work with 1.25" wide swivels or 1.25" mounts.

Model Two does not come with swivels. You save a couple bucks if you get this if you dont need swivels,

M24 version comes with HD QD swivels of tough one piece design. Very tough swivel. Slight increase in cost.

Then you can have the M24 version with American Made AI or HxK type hooks for use on AICS and AW rifles.Same charge as the reg M24

Then you can get M24 with the American Made HD Flush Cup Swivels. These are the center button Target swivels the USMC uses on M40A3s. The cost goes up 10.00 more over M24 because frankly these swivels cost like Gold.

The Quick Cuff is the sling the USMC picked for all its precision weapons (M40A3 MK11,DMR) a couple of years ago. They purchased the Model Two from me and got same swivels I use from another supplier (Easier for me that way).

The US Army uses the Quick Cuff Model Two on all of its new M110s, shipped from KAC with sling in case. KAC supplies the swivels. Army first started use of the Quick Cuff at SOTIC in 1999 and has been using in various units since.

Next is the Slip Cuff

This is a modern version of the 1907 design Match sling but is far tougher and works better. It can be had with any of the swivels options the Quick Cuff can

I'm interested in the Quick Cuff version for the AI stock.
I told George at GAP to toss in a TIS sling and he sold me the one without the Quick Cuff.
Do you have any pictures to post of the AI attachments or are they the same as the ones here (https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=15751) (my rifle is the 3nd post down)

Dave, no I quit use of those a year plus ago. The ones I have are jsut liek AI uses only American made and I think better.

Triad tactical carries them and I believe he has photos.

If GAP sent you a sling most likely it was Slip Cuff.

Yup, that's it- I just checked triads site. I like it, it works. I do hate those swivels though. I'll have to get a new green quick cuff with 2 sets of Hk hooks.

The standard 1907 sling is considered the "best" sling for general purpose use. There are variations of this sling available from different vendor's but it remains the "basic" sling which all others are judged...

Using a "cuff" is just adding crap that really isn't needed. With 35 years of shooting I have tried just about eveything and it still falls back to the basic 1907 sling...

I don't mean to hurt anyones feelings but I am just using my experience in the use of slings...

Now that the TIS is standard issue for the Army and Marine Corps, I think your (first, prior to editing) statement is more of a personal opinion. There are already 2 years worth of new shooters who have never and may never shoot with the 1907 style sling.
I agree with you on actually "needing" the cuff, we probably don't, but every bit of innovation helps.

Toten, I dont know your experience but I have used my Quick Cuff for about twenty years as a sniper. It was developed because of short falls I saw with 1907 design. The Army actualy has used my slings at SOTIC for about ten years.

Technolgy is a great thing. There is nothing a 1907 design sling does better than the Quick Cuff except be old in design. Quick Cuff is faster, does not flag your muzzle getting into and out of position like a 1907 design does, QC lasts longer, Quick Cuff is stronger. Now I dont know about you but even though folks still fly Bi-Planes I wnat a F16 protecting my butt. Your mileage may vary
