View Full Version : Remington 14.5 p/w upper from cdnn
I recently got an email from cdnn, and in it was a link to their Remington 14.5” that I assumed they mounted to an upper and pinned and welded (as they advertised).
I got it in the mail yesterday,no pin or weld...they are gonna end up landing innocent people in a lot of trouble.
Honestly, the only reason I bought it was it had been pinned and welded.
They are going to be getting a phone call in the morning.
It's perfectly legal to put on an AR pistol without pinning and welding.

1. It was advertised as pinned and welded.
2.I will just drill/pin/weld and finish it myself,I just thought for 289$ it would save me some work.

I think the OP is implying that there are people out there who won't bother checking if it's pinned and welded and slap it on a rifle lower without realizing it.
Not to mention, that's straight up deception to the seller if it's marked as pinned and welded.
Call em, raise hell and see what they say. More than. Likely they will tell you to ship it back for a full refund, and be pretty dismissive about anyone else's qualms or issues. Legally implicating or otherwise.
I want the parts,I am very curious how the Remington 14.5” socom will perform.i have the means to do the work,it just caught my attention due to the fact I have had a complete lower built and ready.
Agreed that it lands a gun owner in potential hot water if they don’t have a registered SBR or a pistol config when they take possession.
It’s this one right?

Just to clarify; how do you know it's not pinned and welded? Was the flash hider separate from the barrel? Or is it installed and you can't see an obvious weld bead?
I hope everyone avoids the ATF agent with the measuring tape at the next range session.
Be safe out there folks!
Really though, call and tell them.
Did you take the MD off? Or can you just not see the weld? Some PW jobs are legit invisible if done be someone who cares.

This is the item I purchased
And yes,I was able to easily remove the yhm flash hider with a standard length 3/4” open end wrench.
Talked to Seth at cdnn,he insisted I send the upper back, told him I would p/w myself, offered free shipping on my next few orders to compensate for the mix up.
The best part is,now I can put a bcm a2e on the upper to make it closer to the real thing.
That isn't a good thing for them to be sending out the door. I think we all agree the 16" laws are stupid and pointless, but its currently the law.
Agreed,I didn’t post this to trash them as I have got some good stuff at reasonable prices from them in the past.i hope this is an isolated situation and no one get in any trouble over it.
Damn, the "pin and welded" barrels we're $99 a few days ago. I passed because I didn't want the hassle of having to remove/replace it. Bought one for $179 with the YHM thrown in the other day. I'm too slow on the trigger...

Just a thought, the AR Stoner branded extended A2 from Midwayusa is only $14.99. I ordered one for this exact same barrel, and couldn't be happier.
After sleeping on it,I’m thinking about pinning the phantom...any feed back from phantom users would be appreciated!

I have used them on several AR builds and had one P&W on an AK74. It is a little heavier than the A2 or BCM's A2X.
Check out Jeremy's video. The YMH is towards the end of the first video IIRC.

Video #3 is a longer video and tests the top MD's from the tests.

After thoroughly convincing myself this barrel is a bushmaster(no 203 cut outs,no cage code) I decided to take it to the range after work, shot it at 50 yards with an old eotech, ran 210 rounds of m855 without issue.
Accuracy is as good as I can do with any other carbine/red dot combo I own.
Still really salty they advertised a Remington defense (pictured with cage code stamped on the barrel and 203 cut outs) and sold me whatever this thing is...at least it works and seems accurate.
It's back in stock at CDNN.
I'm just curious if they are worth the $300.. Enough there to be a usable tool out of the box, or to much "tweaking" to be worth it...???
I would only buy again if I had received what was advertised (a rem. Defense 14.5” cage code marked barrel) it does run good and is accurate enough...
