Not at all familiar with the Bren 2, but it must be a fairly solid gun:

"In 2015 CZUB announced that they were introducing an improved rifle called CZ BREN 2. About a year later, the Czech Ministry of Defence signed a contract for 2,600 CZ BREN 2 rifles together with 800 CZ 805 G1 Grenade Launchers. Apparently, the Czech Army is happy with the BREN 2, as they just signed an agreement with the supplier Česká Zbrojovka (CZUB) for about 40,000 firearms. The contract is worth in the region of CZK2.35 billion (about USD111 million).
The contract will run for the next few years and includes up to 16,000 CZ BREN 2 Modular Assault Rifles, 21,000 CZ P-10 pistols, 1,600 CZ 805 G1 Grenade Launchers."

Apparently the French Gendarmarie likes it. All the recent pictures I've seen of GIGN has them carrying the BREN2 (in 7.62x39 no less) in lieu of the HK416. Perhaps there's a mission specific reason for that, but nonetheless, it's interesting. I've heard it described as what the SCAR should have been. It'll be interesting to see what this rifle can do as time goes on. That waffle-y looking furniture is kinda ugly though.

I was able to shoot one before the ranges closed up. Some random older guy next to me had a 8.5" 5.56 pistol he was running a can on, and I liked it.

I would really like a 308 version though, would LOVE it in the $2500 range too, so I'm hoping one of those comes out.

I'm guessing it will be below $2500. CZ is smart enough to get comfortably under the AR offerings - plus, at $2500, people might just pay a little more for a SCAR. I could see these coming it at $2200-2300.

Glad CZ is getting business. I don't own anything of theirs, but I think they make good products. I'd also consider a Bren 2 in .308.

I have a 5.56 Bren 2Ms with 14" barrel, very nice. Great ergos, light weight, and fine trigger. Smooth shooting and decent accuracy, as well. Not the prettiest girl at the dance, more like a solid 7 or 8 with a fun personality.
If it wasn't for the 30% hit my portfolio recently took, I'd probably have a 7.62x39 version by now.

Not even gonna lie... I kind of want a Bren 2/807 in x39 just because I hate AKs... :laugh:
