Im trying to find out who made this barrel? M4 14 1/2 inch barrel with M4 Ramps F marked sight on one side then K5 I2 on the other side of the sightl. On the Barrel right before the front sight is marked 01/05, Other then that no other markings. Im thinking is a cortracted barrel for the military but not sure. Any thoughts?

sounds strange for a .mil barrel that there isn't any markings like 556 NATO 1/7

Are there any markings on the barrel itself, maybe back around the
chamber area?

There should be at least a caliber marked somewhere?

Where did you get it?
Maybe you can trace it backwards that way?

Is it possible that it used to be a longer barrel that was shortened and most of the marking were removed in the process?

It is a Colt barrel that probably didn't get any barrel markings.

I checked the whole barrel for markings and those were the only ones on the barrel. I thought it was odd that they dated the barrel 05/01. I've never seen a barrel dated before. I got the barrel from my shop but know body knows where it came from, we have a bunch of random crap laying around back there so Im not really suprised. The outside of the barrel looks a little beat up, but the inside looks like its never been shot. I cleaned it and all that I pulled out was dust.

I don't know if it's just a thing for military barrels, but my M4A2 barrel is dated under the handguards, on the side, near the Front sight base.

thats where mine is dated, do you happen to have pics of your barrel? What other markings does it have on it?

I'll have to get back with you. I don't have pics at this time....

Let me see.... I think there's a deep "0" stamped into the barrel too. It's close to the delta ring where the barrel tapers down from the chamber area.

Other than that, it has the usual "C MP 1/7 5.56 NATO" out front. I'll have to give it another look over when I get to the house.

Every Colt barrel since 1995 is dated like XX/XX

I can tell by just the way it looks, the finish, machining, FSB, etc that your barrel is Colt.

Thanks Scottryan thats what I figured! We have a few stripped C Marked BC and some CMP Bolts in a drawer so I figured it must have came from the same place. The rifling and the chamber all look good so this will be my next project barrel after I get it refinished.
