I am building a 11.5" rifle from mostly spare parts or parts that are in inventory and decided on a Roscoe barrel, just figure I would run this by to see if anyone has used any of their barrels or provide any insight.
TIA Greg

Are you going to shoot it suppressed and/or with full power 5.56 ammo? If so, there are a handful of other barrels I would look at first. From what I have seen, the barrels are quality, but may be ported a little too liberally for my uses.

For suppressed or full power loads I would look at the Sionics reduced gas port series, Black River Tactical, or Triarc systems.

Suppressed is my intention, I just read another post a member put up on Roscoe but no range report. Thanks for the reply, I'll keep checking around.

RULES FOR POSTING IN THIS SUB FORUM STICKIED AT THE TOP-

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST-Custom Build AR Forum

To all concerned.

The custom build area is a place to show off/discuss and ask questions and get feedback about your completed custom build (this means a completed AR that is functional and already completed). If you are going to post pictures of your build, please post a complete picture not just your parts, partial lowers, etc....

Also, buying an upper separate and then a lower and throwing them together does not constitute a custom build. It would be nice if you took time to explain how you came to your decision and explain your set up. Thanks.

If you do not follow the guidelines and your post disappears it's probably because it was moved to the trash or deleted.

Roscoe actually makes a very good barrel. There are others I would suggest, but its hard to beat them from a performance to price ratio.

I feel your pain, but it is common place.

To me custom build means something out of the ordinary, not just slapping common over the counter parts together into an upper or lower. Because, honestly I don't consider the 8 or 9 (I'd have to count) residing in my safes custom builds. I assembled/built them.

Going further, I have reported the posts/threads by the guy in the pistol sub-forum, who is apparently going to post a photo/picture thread of every firearm he owns, and they haven't been moved. His stuff is nice, but there really isn't much gray area as to what constitutes a photo/picture, but, yet they remain.

So, we are apparently peeved at different aspects of the same thing. :)

OP - I have a Purebred 13.7" with about 200 rounds through it so far, good solid barrel IMO. The Bloodline 11.5 @ 135.00 would be worth taking a chance on, IMO.

I prefer either stainless or chrome-lined, and for my tastes the m4 profile in an 11.5 isn't what I'd want. I'd probably give this a try @ 168.00

Although the BA 'Joe Biden AR-14' is hard to pass up at 145.00:

If being overgassed turns out to be a problem, I just picked up an adjustable gas block from 3CRTactical for around $25. It's made of steel and actually works well. Very slim profile.
