STOL planes have fascinated me for decades. It seems that there is a real renaissance in back-country based around Kitfox, Highlander, Carbon Cub and other airplanes. Lots of home built experimental planes so they can be mod'd a lot more easily. The other thing, is that it seems like the horsepower has really climbed. From 80ish horsepower in historic Cub's to these new snowmachine tweaked engines that put out 200+hp. Of course, there is/was DRACO, which was a Wilga tow plain that a mad man put a turbine engine in.
Plus, a lot of these guys like Trent Palmer are drone videographers, so they have killer camera kits and editing skills.
These guys should re-shoot BAT-21 movie.
Want to waste and afternoon, follow Trent Palmer, Mike Patey (the dude doesn't sleep and he is a self taught engineer. amazing), and others.
It seems like the winning formula is a plane, a hottie in the right seat and some go pro's.
