This is one that recently made its way back home and into the hands of an LEO in the Northwest.

One of the great pleasures we have is the interaction with our customers... discussing the plans and collaborating on their projects, seeing them at shows, and our on going communication and rapport both throughout and after we deliver their completed builds. Even better still are the times we get to shoot and/or train with the end users of our guns and the owner of this gun is just one such example.

Earlier this year I had the chance to train along side the owner, “FR”, during a 3-day class I hosted with Jeff Gonzales (Trident Concepts). Having already had a gun in line with me it was a great chance for us to not only discuss “FR’s” future project but also to evaluate certain likes and dislikes in a using gun. “FR” is a very hard shooter and by the first day of class it was quite evident he had committed a great deal of time and effort to honing his skills. He is also quite dedicated to the upkeep of those skills, having traveled all the way from NW for the opportunity to attend this particular class.

Some months after the class I was ready to start on his gun and with a solid base of knowledge and time behind the 1911 “FR” knew just what he wanted. Things like a welded frame and slide fit, Kart barrel, Wilson beavertail, single side thumb safety, and best quality internals throughout were a given but since this was to be a new duty gun he also had a few special/personal requests. “FR” wanted a high cut front strap and hand cut 25lpi checkering front and rear, a slightly extended mag-catch, PG sights, 3-dot tritium inserts with a white outline front, a Legacy mainspring housing blended into the frame, and a broader and more pronounced pattern of serrations machined into the flattened slide top. He preferred to have the slide rear left un-serrated as well as the underside of the slide stop but with the standard top serrations left remaining. Rounding out his list of must haves was complete line straightening and cosmetic detailing of the frame and slide and a set of nice looking wood stocks... commenting "after all, what’s the point in using an ugly gun?"... I couldn't agree more. ;) And, since “FR” intends to try to wear out the piece, a full compliment of spare parts, pins, and appropriate springs were ordered. Finish it all in a corrosion resistant black finish (Black-T in this case) to help resist the NW weather and “FR” said he’d be a happy camper.

“FR”, I’m looking forward to seeing this gun in another class sometime down the road... Enjoy! :)

Good Gawd that is gorgeous! Add an ambi-safety, a little more crowning on the barrel (not necessary though) and a S&A mawell and it would be perfect for me...

10 out of 10 for aesthetics IMHO.

Maybe when finances allow we'll be dropping you a line. Great work!
