Some interesting design features. The folding buttstock looks quite small in relation to the weapon:

I have watched a few videos on it. Sig is going to take over the firearm world. The weapon system looks incredibly innovative though.

Its the first new gun I’ve seen seeking .mil contracts lately that I’ve thought might actually be an improvement. Of course, the ammo’s going to be like a lb plus per 100 over the 240.

The side opening feed tray is what I thought was the cat's meow. How many of us on here have dealt with a cranky 249 or 240 (or dating myself with the extremely hateful M60) when trying to reload and snapping a finger into the feed cover?

It looks like there was a lot of thought that went into it making it more "user friendly" as an end result. Not as much engineer that will never have to carry it driven, but rather end user driven.

One thing I did notice was it looked like it had a fairly substantial recoil opposed to the other designs. I understand you're going to get more with a .338 caliber by virtue of the size of the shell, but I wonder if that'll cause problems for ordinary Joe or Jane (if it ever goes into general Big Army/USMC issue) that only gets a few belts per year to fire?

Yeah, at first I hated it. Then I realized you are getting something like .50 BMG ballistics in a package the size of a M240. I don't see it replacing the M2, but might be capable of retiring the M240, assuming it works. I want to see someone hold it sideways and drag an entire belt out of the can before we mainstream it.
