View Full Version : Zeroing a standard A2
I've got one of the Bushy Plain-Jane A2 HBAR target models that I've yet to take to the range. There's different methods of zeroing; the Army-type 25 meter method, the "Improved Battlesight Zero" at 50 meters, and I've known guys that zeroed at 100 yards.
Is any one method better than the others? This will be probably be a range queen (at ranges of from 100-300 yards).
Rifle or Carbine?
I just zero at 100 across the board anymore. I used to 50 yard zero my beans and 100 for my Rifle. Now It's all 100 yards.
I was shooting on paper at 100 yards with one of my carbeans a few weeks ago, and realized how bad the 50 yard zero was to my POI when I was trying to shoot precision at 100. I was grouping 3-4 minutes high.
Zero at the longest range you possibly can.
Preferably at the range you'll shoot the most.
I don't have much faith in the "shortcut" zeroing
methods.
In theory they work perfectly, but in reality there
are just to many variables that get in the way.
My iron sighted ARs are all zeroed at the actual range of 200yds.
This is a regular 20 inch A2 HBAR.

Neither do I. If that's all you have for the short term, OK. But don't expect to score precision hits at any distance.
Zeroing at 100 really takes a lot of error out of the equation. Depending on your vision, it can be a little harder to do than 50 yards.
