Nothing firm yet, but it certainly wouldn't be surprising. Curious how the rumored sale to the Navajo Nation would work out. Would they shift production to Arizona or New Mexico?

"June 26 (Reuters) - Remington Arms Co, America’s oldest gun maker, is preparing to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and is in advanced talks for a potential sale to the Navajo Nation, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday."

Article answer some of the questions I have had with Remington closing companies and not producing MSR parts. So it seems the Navajo will do to Remington what Seribus didn’t finish in destroying American icon.

@CamEdwards

On Remington's possible sale to the Navajo Nation, note that in 2018 the Nation tried to purchase the company and said it would end the sale of AR-15s to consumers, as well as fund "smart gun" research through military and law enforcement sales.

Stunning and brave woke gun manufacturer.

Makes sense. If your company is going under then start making products the consumer doesn’t want and cease making products they do want.

When you allow the mob to open casinos on your reservation and ignore the needs of your people, you have money for this kind of crap.

Then, they can join Colt on THAT list, as far as I'm concerned.

Stunning and brave woke gun manufacturer.

Wonder if the growing market of leftists clamoring for guns will fill the void left by their main customer base shunning them if they go full retard like that.

Oh I can't wait to see the libs start defending a gun manufacturer.... I can see the headlines now.
"Indigenous-owned gun maker Remington is doing poorly; why this is yet another example of America's systemic racism"
"It's important to support indigenous owned firearms manufacturers due to their history of past oppression."
"Why I support indigenous owned Remington Arms even through the second amendment is rooted in oppression and racism".
"White men, mostly Republican, shun previously favored gun manufacturer after Navajo purchase"

It’s almost kind of sad to see how much of a joke Remington has become. Growing up I can remember looking in awe of 870, 1100, even the 1187, along with countless 700’s. And my family was more of Winchester fans. Now I wouldn’t even consider a new production shotgun, rifle, and don’t even get me started on their handguns.

I'd love to see Remington M4s in the hands of our enemies.Imagine the postwar gunshops, each with a barrel of "old captured remington M4s" for $89.... to hang over the fireplace and tell the grandkids how you were there for the great boogaloo and how that dirty commies' teeth prints are still visible on the butt plate.

Tommy Milner destroyed Remington in the early 2000’s, blame him for where they are now. After he screwed up Remington, he got on with Cabela’s and screwed them up too. He’s a weasely piece of shit.

I worked for Cabelas for three years after I graduated college. It was a shitty place to work. They cheated people out of pay, we had to push the company credit cards harder than timeshare salesmen, and under Milner, pretty much all employee benefits and discounts were completely eliminated, replaced with the message that "the economy is bad, and your benefit is actually having a job."

Don't forget, the white liberal cadre of holier (and certainly smarter than) thou's at the Bureau of Indian Affairs in DC have a great deal of control and influence over these things. I recall the Hopi working with a greeting card company to develop a facility on the res. Badly needed jobs and income were determined by the BIA to be detrimental to the the best interests of the tribe.

The BIA is the most racist organization in the U.S. Gov't. My first career was in land surveying. In Alaska, Alaskan Natives in many areas received parcels of land under the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act. The caveat was that the owners of those parcels couldn't sell or subdivide those parcels without the permission of the BIA. It took us five years to get permission to subdivided a 40 acre parcel into four ten acre parcels for the owner's sons. The owner was an Alaskan state senator even. I actually had a BIA guy look me in the eye and tell me that their involvement was for the "protection" of the Native peoples. It was quite obvious that he held the Native people of Alaska as less than equals. The guy requesting the subdivision was a damn college graduate with a masters.

A relative opened a technology factory on the Rosebud Sioux reservation that dealt with various defense related contracts. Federal aquisition rules make this a license to print money if you deliver quality products on time and comply with the contractual requirements. The tribal leadership fired her because she would not hire their family members and pay them when they did not come to work. The very successful factory closed in less than a year. Goodbye to the jobs and money the business contributed to the reservation.

It's not just the BIA

The Sioux are a particularly self destructive group. We’re both in the Black Hills, we both see tribal members and their issues regularly.

It takes a special kind of business leader to fail in a market that has y-o-y record growth.

I have a lot of contact with Navajo Tribal members, and have spent a lot of time on that US Largest land area Reservation. Navajos generally are not good at business. Their casinos are run by outside White outfits, and Navajos are put in positions of "leadership" that prevents them from screwing things up. There's also a lot of corruption in tribal government.

If the Navajo Tribe gets control of Remington, that company is toast.

Remington is already toast.

At this point it’s no great loss.

For hunters there are a plethora of good rifles, shotguns, and handguns on the market from competing companies many of them US made.

For precision shooters, competitive shooters and others in various accuracy disciplines there are far far better actions and rifles available and preferred over the old 700. Almost exclusively US made with a few exceptions like SAKO/Tikka, Howa, and Accuracy International.

For duty users, self defense buyers, and other “tactical” markets Remington has not been a valuable source or major player since maybe WWII. Again no big loss.

For the past 20+ years Remington has been focused on pumping out crap on the back of their brand recognition. A common business plan when a company loses its way and hires shitters like Tommy Milner and other CEO’s with no interest in the products or customers beyond how much profit there is to be made. The plan is always cut costs, sell off assets, get rid of experienced employees, and lower operating ratios. All to see how much the value of the stock can be boosted before spinning the gutted company off to a new owner before the consumers catch on to just how consistently shitty the products and services have become.

Brother- its BEEN toast. I live & work here in Huntsville AL where the factory is located. I work with people who woked there before.
Ive posted some stories here in the past- crazy, nightmarishly bad parts, lack of safety..a woman on the toilet in the plant had a rifle round hit the wall about a foot above her head...and just crap, crap crap.
I wont/dont allow ANYTHING Remington in my home, guns,ammo,gear...NOTHING. The old guns-they are GREAT. But the crap theyve made since 2007 or so? NO THANKS.
The QUICKER that company dies- the better off the gun industry will be.
Oh- I forgot: And PISS on the "tribes" too.

Sounds pretty bad, and I've heard the QC horror stories for quite a while now.

Out of curiosity, has anyone purchased a Remington firearm in, say, the last couple years that they've had no QC issues with? (If I may be so bold).

I recently picked up a Mossberg 590A1 instead of a second 870. I'd love to get a used 870 Police Magnum someday, but there are other things to handle first.

Right now you can build from aftermarket parts a Remington 700 that is superior to the rifle that comes from the factory for similar money. Currently, Remington does not make anything I'd buy from them. Shotguns, bolt action rifles, handguns, ammo. My needs for those are all filled elsewhere by companies with a better reputation other than "We're Remington". I feel for those who will lose their jobs once that ship finally sinks though.

Personally I hope that this means the Gen-yoo-wine 870 E's will go the way of recent Colt 6920s and suddenly become worth a small fortune... Finally I could get rid of this POS without taking a loss.

The major knocks I've heard against the 870 Express are rough chambers and a finish that rusts easily.

The major knocks I've heard against the 870 Express are rough chambers and a finish that rusts easily.

The chambers are easily polished - something Remington should have done.

I think the problem was that they were being made for several years with minimum finish on the chamber and bores before the cheap budget pack shells were introduced/became popular.

It shouldn't have been a problem in any event, Remington should have finished the chambers to a higher standard, even on their beater Express line.

I've known a couple of diehard Remington blood flows in my veins folks that had worked for Remington all their lives. I'll be sorry for them if the brand dies, they had nothing to do with management fvcktardery.
