They work just fine, I don't think they are better than Pmags, but they work. I should probably change those mags since I have not completely vetted those mags.

Seriously, one of my favorite setups I have on other “non-night” guns including the KAC RAS.
I normally have an 11.5 with FF carbine rail and a rear sight, but I've been lazy about cracking the safe and just leaning this ranch gun by the night stand.
I think I posted a pic of this thing in a thread about carbine stocks not long ago.
But this is kind of my “main” carbine. Honestly it’s kind of a junkyard dog....

It’s a BCM upper receiver group from back when they offered carbine uppers with pencil barrels, it was 16” originally but at one point years back I sent it to ADCO and got it cut down to 14.7“ with an A2 pinned and welded because....reasons? I dunno. Probably a waste of time and money.

Aimpoint PRO in an ADM AD-68 “standard” height mount (a mistake, I should have gotten the taller one I think)
Handguards are the BCM PKMR polymer keymod handguards. I’m not some kind of Keymod apologist but I do generally like the PKMRs as far as plastic handguards go.
BCM VFG attached. I’m starting to get away from VFGs but for now I’m still using them on my guns that have lights mounted all the time.
Light mounted in the 11 0’clock position is a Surefire G2X in a BCM mount.
Lower is a Rock River I got at a gun show in like 2008 I think. This gun has waffled back and forth over the years between having a carbine receiver extension and a rifle extension with an A1 length fixed stock on it. Currently it has an Aero receiver extension with the ol’ CAR stock on it. Anytime I had a carbine RE on it I typically ran it with an “H” buffer but this time around I bumped it up to an H2, and I’ll probably keep it that way.
FCG is the ALG ACT.
Safety is a Seekins Ambi. I had to file down the right side selector a bit because it jabbed the shit out of my hand while shooting.
Grip is a Hogue beaver tail grip, without finger grooves because I hate finger grooves.
Sling is a Spec Ops patrol sling.
Mags may be either Okay Industries GI mags or Gen 3 Pmags, I use them more or less interchangeably still despite Pmags probably being objectively superior to aluminum mags overall.
The whole gun was rattle canned varying shades of brown a couple different times as components were removed or added, I left the BCM logo unpainted in the event I ever had a warranty issue it would be easily identifiable as one of their uppers....I’m assuming painting it doesn’t void the warranty...
Ammo is......plain old M193.
It’s an okay gun. I find it dull and uninspired but apparently not enough to not make the same mistake twice as I also have an 11.5” SBR configured almost identically except for a couple minor details and not being rattle canned. The SBR generally stays in the safe though.

Nothing that I know of. Troy just kind of fell off the map after what.. 2014, I know that I bought one of 3 pack of tan mags from Sportman's Guide in right after Sandy Hook when you couldn't find anything. In the past 4-5 years I just moved to Gen 3's, Lancers, or Okay Surefeed's.

My bump in the night gun is an 8" 300 BLK SBR with SiCo Specwar can. I keep a 30-round mag inserted, condition 3, filled with Barnes 110gr TAC-TX black tip. I have 2 spare mags on a battle belt I could grab if i had to, but i generally wouldn't throw on the belt unless things were really crazy.

My favorite thing about the DG switch is that it simply turns the light on when the pistol is gripped.
If I clear kydex at work, I want my light on. There is not a single instance on a SWAT Team that if I draw my handgun, I would not want to see what I am about to do with it. If on an outdoor range in the daylight, I just remove my batteries to conserve them, then pop them back in after training wraps up.
If I have an injured extremity, I can still use my weapon light with the DG switch. If I'm moving and don't want the light on, I just simply relax my grip, but it can instantly turn back on if I need it.
I'm a big fan, and won't run a pistol light without it.

I'm liking, but also surprised by the amount of quad rails that I'm seeing here.
All Colt pistol except the A5 RE assy, KAC two stage trigger, 45 degree ambi safety & (added after the photo was taken) Airborne charging handle. BRT micro port was added for proper gas with a suppressor. It also wears a Blue Force sling. The Omega is direct thread. Brace is an SBA3 with the Split Fix.

Technically speaking I have two other “bedside” rifles as well, as I have a three-rifle rack mounted to the wall next to the bed and right over the nightstand.
My midlength with a fixed A1 stock and Primary Arms 2.5x prism. It’s not a “bump in the night” gun as the optic not very suited to indoor use, but it is a gun I keep handy to address outdoor issues should they come up. Seen here is the DIY winter camo that it was still sporting contrasted against the bare ground on the 60-something degree March day that the photo was taken. Two weeks later we had a brutal April snowstorm that wiped power out all over the state. Like a couple of my other ARs it doesn’t have a light on it all the time but has a mounting point for one at the 11 o’clock position.

There is also this gun - #3 (Which I nicknamed “Dora” for very obscure reasons) which was my attempt to build an R0727 style carbine. Iron sights only, and it’s actually a gun I like quite a bit. The handguard arrangement has been through a couple different iterations, a couple different VFGs, light, no light etc. But as configured currently it has CAR handguards, no VFG and a section of pic rail bolted on at about the 11 0’clock position in the event I want or need to stick a light on it. Since this rather crappy pic was taken it has also been rattle-canned grey

You might notice that I have “rack numbers” on my guns.
I went through a bit of a AR buying/building spree (I did several Retro clones) between 2016-2019 and over the course of that period the number of ARs I had increased dramatically. In order to keep track of round counts, parts replacement, any function hiccups etc through the individual guns it became apparent I would need to maintain a log book. So to go along with that I started numbering the guns with either a white paint pen or number stickers like you’d put on a mailbox.

The bag is just a modern interpretation of the scabbard with lots of mole attachments and several ways to sling / carry. It is unmarked and I bought it at the LGS, so I really don't know what it is.....

I have my L4 Ceramic Plate carrier with P30, BK7, Radio and Tavor in another room.
The Tavor is loaded with 77gr TMK's over 8208 XBR, the P30 is again loaded with Gold Dots and I have several extra mags in the plate carrier. The BK7 is again powered by fists of fury.
It is good to have options when the fuktards are rioting. The plate carrier normally rolls in the Raptor, but because we are a nation of pussies, I am not driving as much.
