Matching Bullet to Barrel

Is it okay to use 55 grain bullets in a rifle with a 1 in 9 twist rate? Is there a better twist rate for that type of ammo? Do barrels with high twist rates have shorter lives?

The optimal twist rate for 55 grain bullets is 1/12. 55 grains shoot fine out of both 1/9 and 1/7 though.

And NO. A faster twist rate won't wear a barrel out quicker. Throat and port erosion will kill a barrel before the rifling wears out.
