Unfortunately it is true. I came across two LAR lowers for $135 a pop the other day and had to jump on them. I refuse to pay higher prices for lower receivers; hopefully these inflated prices will die off in a few months, but we'll see.
I have 2 new ones,maybe i'll sell one!?
Ironically there's enough stripped lowers out there that they should be going for $99 each.
It's just that the tards buying 10 of them at a pop are artificially inflating the market.
I sure hope things get back to normal,it sure sucks that EVERYTHING is sold out at most places .
i've been slowly building up a pretty good stockpile.. shopping around, saving links to places that normally have them at good prices and checking back, and i've gotten several on gunbroker. gunbroker has, in the last week, become so ridiculous that i'm not even looking there for a while... i got 4 or 5 lowers- good lowers- for 120-145 in the last month.. then all of the sudden on like saturday or sunday i got a whole string of "you've been outbid!" emails, and lowers have been getting fought over for 200+ since. LPKs are finalling for over $100, and Bushmaster and DPMS, of course, are selling for the most money in all categories.. hah.

I picked up a DPMS stripped lower at a local gun shop in Oklahoma City the other day for $149. They said they had 16 more of them. I was shocked to hear how many they had so I had to jump on it.

I bought the last Stag lower that my local shop had Monday for $119 plus tax. Sounds like I did OK.

I saw a Doublestar lower at the last show for $260 or $270. That fellow is always a bit high, but he had bumped his stripped lowers up a $100 or so from the last time I saw him at a show not long ago.

the three or four doublestars i've seen in person were pretty ****ed up. i swear someone's gonna cut their finger on all the forge flash left on one i saw at a show. they wanted 150 for it, i chuckled and kept my wallet in my pocket.

Don't know if they've got a website or not, but it's called H&H.
As I said, I bought the last Stag lower, although they had about a dozen Rock River lowers at $165 that went quickly. They've been told not to expect any more for 10 months.
Thae name of the shop is Autreys Armory, in Fayetteville, Ga. They have a web site, but it is bare bones. www.AutreysArmory.com
After seeing all this fuss I wish I'd bought several.

Got a DPMS for $141 OTD on Friday before the election. There were 6 DPMS, 4 Stag, and 3 CMMG stripped lowers on the shelf when I bought that one. My LGS has them trickling in stock on a weekly basis and hasn't raised prices. If we get on a waiting list they'll hold one 24 hours after they call. Saw DPMS lowers on Gunbroker the other day at $299 Buynow and about gagged. Panic buying at it's finest.

The pickings are getting pretty slim now. :(
A person wanting an AR/M4 might be better off trying to find a complete rifle. It would suck to pay top $$ for a stripped lower and then have to wait and pay crazy prices for the rest of the parts later.
We all think prices are stupid now? Just think what will happen after the first mention of a new AWB after January 20th. When the first AWB was in effect, you had to look far and wide to find an AR for $3500. That might be cheap compared to the panic the next time around - especially if there is some sort of terrorist attack or other emergency afterward and people suddenly think they need one for self-protection.
