Decided to go with a M4 barrel 16" dissapator.
And a lo profile gas block.. with a pigtail gas tube...........and Yankee hill single rail gas block.. out front, with a rock river clamp on front sight.
Anderson lower..
Tubbs flat wire recoil spring H3 buffer..
Smooth shooting ..

Sounds like a nice build.

I've got an older Bushmaster Dissy, with a 1/9 chrome-lined barrel. I swapped the flat-top for and A2 upper, and put on a 3-prong Surefire flash hider. One of my favorites.

This is what I’m intending to do with my PSA Dissy project, but with an A1 stock. Cool rifle.

They look real nice on an A1 pattern.

Dissipators are a blast to shoot.

I have one of the Spike's GMP uppers with a Faxon pencil barrel and midlength gas block.

This one is just a fun soft shooting carbine using a Brownells 15.5" rifle barrel assembly and a C7 upper.

I also bought one of Brownells dissapator 15.5 barrels.
I used a C7/A1 upper..
A1 stock. And the triangular handguards with a three prong flashhider.
Not completely a 605 clone.. but close enough for me.
It's fun to shoot.

I wonder why there are not more dissapators. And why they don't seem to be highly thought of.

What is the conventional wisdom on these? Fake Dissipator or cut down rifle gas barrel to 16.5" or so?

Rifle gas is super smooth. But it's prone to choke with the wrong ammo, or carboned up, or in the cold...

Cold isn't too much of an issue here so basically 5.56 pressure and a reasonably clean gun and you should be good. Or open up the gas port a hair?

Most people don't see the value in a fixed FSB... until the rail mounted crap breaks.

There is nowhere to open the gas port any more. It's maxed out on a rifle gas 16" barrel.

Should be fine as a range toy if you are willing to get anmo that it likes.

Have to say I never considered the part with the gas port. The ammo part is not problem as I load and tune it to the rifle. And it would definitely just be for something different to shoot at the range with irons. I’m thinking carry handle.
