I'm digging the offbeat camo scheme on this vehicle.

I used to work on the fire control on Abrams quite a bit, so I would really like to look at compare/contrast the mounting system and resolver.

Wonder how difficult it would be to upgrade the 120mm to the 130mm.....Rheinmetall designed both, it could be a consideration.
Apparently they don't think the MBT is done just yet.

That's a heck of a lot of weight and it has to remain balanced, controlled and remain in a constant electronic and hydraulic feedback loop.
At some point you have to ask is more gun necessary?

Not happening, they wont even put the 120mm L/55 in the Abrams much less a 130mm. I doubt the new ammo would even fit in the turret bustle, you would have to redesign the whole turret. At that point you might as well develop a new tank.

That damn socket....

When I saw them available at Sears individually I would buy them all. Damn things.
Also 1/4 inch drive extensions. Work on a gun trunnion resolver without three feet of 1/4 inch drive extensions.

Germany and France are in a joint partnership to produce a new tank (with a 130mm gun) to replace their current Leopard II and LeClerc tanks. Whether this will hold together long enough to actually produce usable hardware is open to question.

The Germans will insure the French transmissions only work in reverse.

That is quite the range setup they have...
